Tree-lined Savannah park
Unlike many of Savannah’s historic inn-style sleeping options, The Marshall House is very child-friendly, offering kids under the age of 12 a free stay with an adult. The hotel is in a landmark building constructed in 1851, a five-minute walk from the shops, restaurants, and galleries found on River Street.

Homewood Suites by Hilton Savannah Historic District/Riverfront is another popular choice with families as it has all-suite accommodation in a central location overlooking the Savannah River. Learn About Attractions And Sights In Savannah
Savannah is a versatile city that offers a wide range of attractions and activities, catering to a diverse set of travelers. You can choose from architectural tours, music and food festivals, art exhibits, and Civil War re-enactments. If you are visiting Savannah for the first time, here are a few activities that you should consider including in your itinerary.
Historic District North Zone: City Market & Broughton Street

Another tourist hotspot in the Historic District is City Market. The market takes up a two-block radius and offer shops, restaurants, and a thriving nightlife scene.
Visit by day to check out the galleries and many talented artists, and then stick around at night for the bars and live music. W Congress Street, which borders City Market, is known as an entertainment/bar zone.
Broughton Street is considered Savannahs shopping street, so its a great place to buy clothes, gifts, and all kinds of souvenirs to bring back home. There are plenty of restaurants located on Broughton Street, and one of my favorite hotels in Savannah is located there, too.
Here are the pros and cons
Pros: If you like being in the center of all the action, City Market is the zone is for you. If you love shopping, Broughton Street makes a great home base!
Cons: If you stay in a home rental located above a bar or business, read the reviews carefully to ensure its not too loud at night. Parking is an absolute nightmare in this area.
Homelessness: Its very common to find members of the homeless community sleeping in City Market, as well as adjacent Franklin and Ellis Squares. Franklin Square is a gathering spot during the daytime, too. Expect to be asked for a handout when youre staying in this area.

With its Spanish-moss-swathed parks, gorgeous antebellum architecture, historic churches, world-class restaurants, and sub-tropical climate, Savannah is easily one of Americas most inviting cities. For visitors, the Historic District on the Savannah River is the big draw, but unsurprisingly, staying here can be expensive the city boasts some of the countrys most luxurious hotels and B& Bs, with prices to match, though the good news is that the surrounding suburbs feature plenty of budget options. As youll quickly realize, theres a huge difference in price when it comes to location anything in Downtown Savannah, where everyone ideally wants to stay, is at least double the average cost of a motel in the districts beyond the city center.
This is likely the biggest decision: cough up to enjoy the atmosphere and convenience of the Historic District, or save money and rely on a vehicle to get around. Staying at one of Savannahs nearby beach districts like Tybee Island can be fun, but is really a different sort of holiday, one focused on sand and relaxation as none of the beaches are especially convenient for city sightseeing.
Savannah/Hilton Head International Airport is about 8 miles west of Downtown/Historic District.
The free Savannah Belles Ferry connects downtown with Hutchinson Island and the Savannah International Trade & Convention Center across the Savannah River from the Historic District.
