Best Area: Zona Rosa / Zona T

Best places to stay in Bogota, Colombia

The Zona T or Zona Rosa, as it is also known, is the best place to stay in Bogotá for those seeking sophistication and fun, because this is where the best nightclubs of the Colombian capital are located, as well as restaurants, shopping centers, and designer stores.

This area is the beginning of what we can consider the north of Bogotá and many of its streets are pedestrian-friendly, but it also has several TransMilenio stops that connect it with the rest of the city.

The Zona Rosa offers numerous accommodation options, from simple hostels to luxury hotels. Likewise, the sum of its day and night attractions with its relatively central location makes it one of the best areas to stay in Bogotá .

Is it a safe area to stay in Bogotá? Although it is always recommended to go with caution, Zone T is probably the safest area to stay in Bogotá or to walk both during day and night.

Dive Into Architecture And Culture In Teusaquillo

About 4 km north of La Candelaria, Teusaquillo is a quiet, traditional neighborhood known for its diverse cultural and artistic hotspots, architectural heritage and green spaces. Developed in the early 20th century, this residential area was once a popular place for upper-class families to live. Its mostly composed of tree-lined streets and beautifully preserved two story Tudor-style homes many converted into small businesses and a handful of hostels and boutique hotels.

Staying here means you can take a leisurely stroll to admire the historic houses and enjoy drama performances at independent theaters. History buffs can learn about Colombias past at the Jorge Eliecer Gaitan Museum, dedicated to the assassinated politician. Its Better Than Medellins Nightlife

The nightlife in Medellin is well-known among travelers. In Poblado, backpackers like to share some drinks in hostels before going out to the clubs near Parque Lleras.

But, I want to tell you a secret.

The Zona Rosa in Bogota is a lot better than Medellin. There are more events, many different kinds of music Bogotanos love Electro and fewer tourists.

However, its a bit more expensive, and you will have to pay a cover to get inside clubs Around 20 000 COP, 7 $.

Some good clubs and bars in the Zona Rosa:

  • Tuesday: Gringo Tuesday at Vintrash Bar Learn Spanish while drinking beers from 5 to 9 pm
  • Wednesday: Armando Records organizes different live band shows
  • Thursday: Presea Rooftop to learn how to dance on Reggaeton music beats.
  • Friday and Saturday: Hotel V then end the night at Mint club

And if youve got some remorse because of all the alcohol you have drunk during the weekend, you can organize an early running session within one of the 2 parks nearby. Parque 93 and Parque El Virrey.

Its a great experience on Sundays as they close down many streets for the Ciclovia.

Radisson Ar Hotel Bogota Airport

If you have an early flight to catch, the Radisson AR is an excellent airport hotel at Bogota airport. The ambiance is perfect, the staff are very helpful, and the food served in the restaurant is fantastic.

The rooms are soundproofed to ensure youre not disturbed by noise from Bogota airport while at the hotel, and they all have air conditioning and free Wi-Fi as standard. For a bit of pre-flight pampering, theres a wellness center offering beauty treatments as well as a relaxing indoor pool with hydro-massage. If youre in Bogota and need a hotel at the airport, this the Radisson AR is unbeatable.

Our Favorite Area: Chapinero

Chapinero is made up of several neighborhoods: La Zona Rosa or Zona T, between 82nd and 84th streets, is known for its international stores and upscale restaurants, Great Chapinero, popular for its leather and footwear retailers, and the Financial Area, where the business-type hotels are.

Chapinero is located between Usaquén and Teusaquillo, both upper and middle-class neighborhoods. To the north, it joins the La Calera highway and, to the west, the Caracas Avenue separates it from Teusaquillo.

Chapineros biggest attractions are Zona T, Parque de la 93 and Teatro Librel.

In Chapinero, moving, eating and staying are not an inconvenient, as it has good restaurants , hotels and public transport connections.

The accommodation in Chapinero adapts to all budgets, from apartments to business-type hotels, B& B and hostels.

Chapinero is considered the best area to stay in Bogota and it is also Bogotas gay area par excellence, including the legendary club Theatron and other LGBT-oriented bars.

Why is this a recommended area to stay in Bogota:

  • Great public transport connections
  • Good area for business travelers

Yes Youll Love Staying In Bogot

Where to stay in Bogota, Colombia?

I travel to meet people and enjoy new experiences. For me, a fun-tipsy talk with a local in the Zona Rosa, an exhausting hike to admire Bogota from Quebrada La Vieja or a delicious dinner in the Zona G are the memories I want to bring back home. Hence, I love staying in the Chapinero district.

But, you maybe dont have the same expectations.

Bogota doesnt have an excellent reputation among the traveler community. I think there are three reasons for that:

  • Tourists dont realize Bogota is at 2600 m high. Its cold at night and cloudy/rainy most of the time
  • They want to visit a capital with 9 000 000 inhabitants within 1.5 days. Bogota is like a shy person. You have to be patient before she starts seducing you
  • They dont know where to stay in Bogota

Dont make the same mistakes and youll spend a joyful moment in the capital of Colombia. You will quickly realize that you can spend the week there!

Also, we give you many tips in this post to help you to enjoy the biggest Colombian cities!

Ive already kind of outlined why I think this is the best place to stay in Bogotá, but here are a few reasons why.

First, its within walking distance of both the best food in Bogotá, mostly found in Zona G, and the best nightlife in Bogotá in Zona T.

Some notable spots not to miss are:

  • Orso Heladería: the best ice cream in Bogotá they have a couple of other locations too.
  • Tacos Insurgentes: Authentic Mexican tacos and cocktails, and good vibes after dark.
  • Abasto: Come for the arepas, but dont leave until youve had the fish wrapped in banana leaf
  • Misia: Celebrity chef Leonor Espinosas outpost with regional dishes from Colombias Caribbean Coast. Get the arepa de huevo.
  • Drinks at El Mono Bandido, Huerta Coctelería, or the Red Room.

Next, its in the middle of the best coffee in the city too. Dont miss Colo Coffees outpost at what used to be Bourbon Coffee, Café Cultor, and Amor Perfecto. Or, if youre really into coffee like me, take this guided coffee tour in Chapinero to learn about the process from field to cup and try some amazing coffee at a handful of Chapinero cafes.

Finally, its relatively safe and well-connected to both the tourist center and Usaquén and Parque 93, making it a great central area to base yourself to explore all of the best parts of Bogotá.
