What Are The Best Hotels In Colorado Springs
You May Smell Marijuana
If you live in a state where marijuana is illegal, it might seem weird to smell weed while walking downtown. However, it’s a common occurrence that took me a while to get used to.
I remember the first time we went to Breckenridge, CO. My kids were young, and we were walking down the beautiful flower-filled streets. Suddenly, a hipster opened the door to a building, and a giant cloud of pot smoke came out. I remember thinking that I hoped it wouldn’t impact my kids in any way.
Now I know that the legalization of marijuana is not a big deal. It hasn’t had much of an impact on the state. I don’t even think about it until I am confronted with a pungent smell while I’m out in public with my family. That scenario lasts for about 20 seconds, and then we move on.

Best Part Of Colorado Springs To Stay In
We are thinking of taking a last minute vacation to CS. Meaning leave tomorrow and stay 4 or 5 days. I looked on Priceline for hotels and am wondering is Central, North or South the best place to stay? Any section safer/nicer? I am thinking we will take a day trip to Cripple Creek, also go to Garden of the Gods, Seven Falls, a half day rafting trip and just general sight seeing. I am open to suggestions and would love to hear any ideas!!
Most of Colorado Springs is safe and if you bid on at least a 3 star hotel, will be in the main visitor areas. North is closer to Airforce academy and central will be closer to downtown and Manitou Springs. Really not that hard to get around town. Check for ideas on what people are getting.
I would visit Garden of the Gods, Manitou Springs, take the cog railway up Pikes Peak. Rafting out of Buena Vista probably your best bet… look for class II or III …check
Consider staying a night in the mountains…Buena Vista or Salida both quite pretty and plenty to see and do.
Thanks for your reply!! I went ahead and bid Priceline and got the Colorado Springs Marriott so I am hoping it will be decent and convenient. I will put Manitou Springs on our list and check into the rafting at Buena Vista!

Landscaping Is Difficult In Some Areas
When the elevation in your city varies by 1,500 feet depending on where you live, the chances are high that vegetation requirements will be complicated.
People located at the mountains’ foothills in Colorado Springs have to choose plants that will not simply become a great lunch for the deer. If you move to this side of town, talk to your neighbors before buying flowers and plants.
Many people have lost their beautiful new landscaping to deer and other critters within a few months of installing them.
If you’re moving out East, you may be surprised at how often your yard needs new sod. The terrain is drier and takes a beating from the sun and wind. Fresh grass will only last a few years before it needs to be replaced.
It’s incredible how different the landscaping requirements are as I drive around the other parts of town.

We’re Not A Mini Denver
Many cities in suburbs of larger cities tend to be a mini-version of the larger city they are close to. This is not the case with Colorado Springs. It’s altogether a very different city than Denver.
Colorado Springs is a small city that has experienced rapid growth. However, multiple neighborhoods still have that small-town feel. In Denver, there are stores and malls every few miles. It takes years to learn about all of the areas and what they have to offer.
Colorado Springs only takes a couple of months to learn about all of the different areas within it. However, it’s not a city yearning to build, grow, and dominate. Many people here complain about the growth and want it to stay small. It’s a less progressive city than Denver, which results in a different vibe.
One event that always reminds me of the small size of Colorado Springs is the Labor Day Lift-Off. Hot air balloons are released for three days during the weekend. It’s fun to see many of the residents of Colorado Springs at this big event.
As the city has grown over the last few years, I see more Denver influence than ever before, but it’s still very different. For example, Northgate has a lot of newer development, reflecting some of the Denver characteristics, but our Downtown is not like Denver’s.
Average Home Size: 4000 Sq Ftaverage Year Built: 2001
Pine Creek is one of the original luxury golf-course neighborhoods in Colorado Springs. It is built around the Pine Creek Golf Course and showcases beautiful views of Pikes Peak. Driving through the community, you’ll quickly notice that residents prioritize their lawns here. The landscaping is consistently stunning. Pine Creek is adjacent to John Venezia Park, one of the best parks in all of Colorado Springs. It also has convenient access to all of the shopping options in Briargate, Northgate, and the Powers Corridor. Its location is ideal for nearly anything that you want to do in Colorado Springs.
