Historic District & Downtown La
The Historic District and Downtown Los Angeles concentrate a large part of the tourist attractions and monuments that every visitor should see.
This busy business area is located in the heart of Los Angeles, housing industrial buildings and warehouses converted into modern apartments and elegant cafes.
As an alternative to the beach, it is recommended to stay at the Downtown L.A. and the Historic District because of the proximity to various attractions and nightlife options such as live music venues and bars.
Staying in these areas gives you the opportunity to visit the Museum of Modern Art The Broad, the Cathedral of Our Lady of Los Angeles, the MOCA and the famous auditorium of the Walt Disney Concert Hall.
Moving to other neighborhoods from the Historic District & amp Downtown L.A is easy because of its location and easy access to public transport.
These areas offer numerous accommodation options at reasonable prices, as well as business hotels, which is why it is one of the best areas to stay in Los Angeles for business.

What About An Apartment
There is a valid alternative to the classic hotel: renting an apartment. This solution is very much appreciated by those who prefer the advantages and comforts of a real vacation home in Los Angeles. We talked about this option much more extensively in our article dedicated to apartments in Los Angeles.

Best Areas To Stay In Los Angeles
Los Angeles is an immense city of unique, well-defined neighborhoods . And because the best things to do in Los Angeles are spread throughout the city and its suburbs, there isnt just one best part of town to stay in. Los Angeles has neighborhoods for almost any interest, whether it is about a beach vacation, high-end shopping, celebrity sightings, art galleries, nightlife, or foodie travel.
Los Angeles County is a sprawling metropolis and includes many communities, villages, and neighborhoods. Hollywood, Downtown Los Angeles, and The Westside are all part of the city of Los Angeles. There are some neighborhoods on the Eastside of LA like Silverlake and Los Feliz that are also worth exploring. To the west, Venice Beach and Marina Del Rey are a must-see. West of the Cahuenga Pass and over the hill from Hollywood youll find Studio City and the beginning of The Valley. West Hollywood, Santa Monica, Malibu, Beverly Hills, Brentwood, Burbank, and Pasadena are their own cities.
The list of what to do in Los Angeles is huge: from visiting one of the many film studios to taking a map of the stars tour through Beverly Hills and Hollywood or lounging at one of the many beaches along the Pacific Ocean. These are just a few of the local highlights.
West of Downtown and Hollywood youll find the up-scale residential areas of West Hollywood, Beverly Hills, Westwood, and the beaches in Venice, Santa Monica, and Malibu.
What Is The Best Neighborhood To Stay In Los Angeles For Tourists
Everything obviously depends on the things you want to see in the city, but generally speaking, considering a visit that focuses on the main attractions of Los Angeles and also includes a stop outside the city to enjoy Disneyland, in my opinion, Downtown Los Angelesremains the best solution that allows you to get around easily by car. Its central location makes it more or less equidistant from the main areas of the coast and the areas further inland and is also located at a convenient distance from Disneyland. In conclusion, it is an excellent compromise, which makes it one of the best areas to look for accommodations.
Not too far from Disneyland, there is also Long Beach , but at the same time, it is slightly farther from all the other attractions. Its still true that all of the Los Angeles neighborhoods listed here are good options for an overnight stay in the city, so even if you dont find accommodations in the downtown area, dont worry!
West Hollywood: Best Central Neighborhood
West Hollywood is one of the most central neighborhoods in the city, which makes it a great area if youre figuring out where to stay for your first time in Los Angeles. It has trendy restaurants and cafes, as well as great shopping, particularly along Sunset Boulevard, Santa Monica Boulevard, and Melrose Avenue.
WeHo is also known for having great nightlife, particularly for the LGBTQ+ community. Dont let that scare you if youre worried about it not being quiet enough at night. The nightlife is pretty contained to certain areas of Santa Monica and Sunset Boulevards, and there are plenty of hotels away from these spots.
Pros and Cons of Staying in West Hollywood
- Centrally Located: WeHo is smack dab in the middle of LA, so its great for visitors looking to explore different areas. Beverly Hills is to the west, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art is to the south, Hollywood is to the eastyou have a ton of great places at your fingertips. There is one caveat though well talk about that in the cons.
- Tons of Excellent Eateries, Bars, and Cafes: The huge variety of places to eat and drink make West Hollywood an amazing neighborhood for tourists and locals alike.
- Very Walkable: Its super easy to walk around WeHo. Whether you want to stroll along the busier main roads or the pretty tree-lined residential streets, theres really no bad area to explore by foot.

Downtown La Where To Stay In Los Angeles For Nightlife
Are you a night owl? A party animal that wants to experience all the cool nightlife spots in Los Angeles? Then the Downtown area is the right place for you!
Downtown LA is the heart and soul of Los Angeles and the main spot for people interested in culture and business as well. There is always something exciting happening here as well, regardless if were talking about a cool concert, a crazy party or a street performance.
Although Downtown Los Angeles is generally safe, especially during the day, I wouldnt recommend it to families, as walking there at night might get uncomfortable due to the number of unsheltered people around the area.
Downtown LA is also very walkable, so one of the first things youll do while youre here is to take a stroll on the beautiful streets and admire everything that this awesome neighborhood has to offer. While youre here, you can also visit the Museum of Contemporary Art , Chinatown, the Microsoft Theatre and the Disney concert hall, the Grammy Museum and more.

Best Areas For Families
Northeast of Downtown Los Angeles, Pasadena is a bit less hectic and a great place to stay with kids. Settle into a hotel and get interactive at the Kidspace Children’s Museum, see peacocks at the Los Angeles County Arboretum, explore the desert garden at the Huntington Library and marvel at outer space at the Jet Propulsion Laboratory. For action and adventure, book a hotel in Universal City, and make the most of Universal Studios Hollywood’s immersive worlds, including The Wizarding World of Harry Potter. Accommodations in the heart of Long Beach, 23 miles south of Downtown LA, are great for touring the historic Queen Mary ocean liner, meeting marine animals at the Aquarium of the Pacific and viewing the giant art murals on the city streets. Kids will love any of the beach neighborhoods, but Marina del Rey is practically perfect with the marina’s gentle waves and hotels that cater to family groups.
