This Was Our First Time In Montreal And We Were Pleasantly
This was our first time in Montreal and we were pleasantly surprised! Everyone was very friendly and willing to assist when necessary. Most people spoke both English and French, which was very helpful to us as we are not bilingual. The transportation system was easy to use and navigate. We purchased an unlimited pass, which gives you access to the Metro from Monday-Sunday. It cost us $34 each, which is a small price to pay if you are planning on going to different places throughout the city. We visited the Montreal Olympic Stadium, which was very cool to see. We also went to the Biodome and Botanical Gardens, which are relatively close. We enjoyed all three experiences. Our highlights: Paddle boating at the Port, walking the cobblestone streets of Old Montreal, Le Petit Naivre, and the Maze! Take the 200+ step staircase to the top of Mount Royal.. Best views of the city, but be prepared: its quite a hike. Overall we had a great trip and would definitely return. If you are coming from Toronto, a stop at the 1000 Islands National Park is a must. Perfect way to cool down and take a break before your long drive home.

Over the years, I have transitioned into a passionate francophile, and while I chose to live in Québec City, I ventured into Montréal on a monthly basis to explore and eat and shop and soak up as much vitality as I possibly could.
I chose to live in Québec City because it is quiet and charming and feels like a snuggly boyfriend. Montréal, on the other hand, feels more like a wild passionate love affair that will penetrate every single inch of your body.
