Crowne Plaza Nairobi Airport An Ihg Hotel
Known locally as just Meridian Hotel, this establishment may not have the extravagance of Villa Rosa Kempinski or the affluence of Movenpick. However, it doesnât fall short of luxury albeit at a more pocket-friendly price than the abovementioned hotels. Meridian is, indeed, a classic hotel with all the bells and whistles of a modern establishment: WiFi connectivity, televisions in the rooms, en suite bathrooms, and an on-site restaurant. It is also quite close to the heart of the city, just a walking distance from popular attractions like Kenyatta International Conference Center.

This highly regarded elephant and rhino orphanage is a heart-warming way to see some of Kenyas tiny, orphaned pachyderms. Often victims of poaching, staff hand feed the baby elephants during an hour-long open house, where visitors can sometimes pet the playful creatures through the casual rope fence.
Many of the animals here, including rhinos, are rehabilitated to return to the national park. Theyre taken for regular walks with their keepers across the plains, and their scent is spread strategically to introduce their presence to other wild residents.

White Woman Who Loves Nairobi
Im a white woman, and Ive lived in Nairobi for years. Not a posh area with fences all around, just a regular neighborhood. Nairobi isnt like this article at all.
Kidnapping??? Be real. In all of my years here, I have never felt unsafe. I do not own a car and only use public transport.
This article was a ridiculous read. I hope everyone who reads this and believes it is able to overlook the violent crime through the rest of the world, including the US and Europe. Im originally from the US, and I love living in Kenya.
Keep your wits, like you would in London, or Rome or Chicago or New York. Dont flash cash. Dont be a moron. Nairobi is a great city, culturally rich and diverse. Forget the stupid article and use your common sense. Karibu Kenya

Exclusive Areas In Nairobi
Nairobi’s most expensive areas tend to be those with top-class amenities and proximity to embassies and popular bars, restaurants and country clubs. The variety of accommodation options and accessibility to some of the highest-rated private and international schools mean these areas are in high demand among expats.
Southwest of Nairobis city centre lies the residential suburb of Langata . Langatas secure gated compounds known as estates, as well as maisonettes and apartment blocks, are popular among middle-class expats as well as wealthier residents. Life in Langata suits multiple needs. New arrivals, young and old, can appreciate the touristy vibe, with some recommended attractions close by, including Nairobi National Park, the Giraffe Centre, Bomas of Kenya and Uhuru Gardens, as well as live concerts at The Carnivore Grounds. Expat parents are also pleased with the proximity to private schools.
One of Nairobis most luxurious and exclusive areas is Karen. Well-off expats can find a multitude of upmarket properties to buy in Karen, including spacious townhouses with large gardens. Numerous private schools and kindergartens can be found here, and Karens golf course also makes the neighbourhood popular. Karen further offers modern shopping complexes and a range of fine dining options.

- Go ice skating at the Panari Center, a short drive from South C on Mombasa Road.

Things To Do In Kilmani:
Upper Hill And Kilimani
Upper Hill is not quite as natural as its name would suggest. Construction has seen a major upswing in this area in recent years, dotting the neighborhood with skyscrapers. In 2017, for instance, work started on the tallest building in Africa. Upper Hill is a busy neighborhood with restaurants filled with office workers and bars with people winding down after a long day at work.
Uhuru Park is right there waiting for you on the edge of the district. This relatively compact park has a national monument, a man-made lake, and some of the best views of Nairobis skyline. It is an ideal spot to get away from the noise of the city.
Head to Kilimani to check out Nairobis Chinatown in the making, complete with the crimson paper lanterns youre picturing as you read this.
A great place to go if youve caught the shopping bug is the Yaya Mall, a large complex with stores of all imaginable types.
A restaurant you must visit is the Pango Brasserie at the Fairview for clever dishes worthy of being photographed.

Are You Going To East Africa This Is Where You Will Stay In Nairobi The Capital Of Kenya
Nairobi is the capital and largest city of Kenya with more than three million inhabitants. This megalopolis was built in less than a century: originally, it was located between two rivers, the Nairobi and the Ngong, and was just a depot of materials needed to build a railway line connecting Uganda -a neighbouring country- to Mombasa -a city located on the coastline.
Located in the south of the country, it is an economic lung for all of East Africa: a leading commercial centre, it is also home to two world-renowned universities, making it a young and ultra-dynamic city. But tourism activities are not to be outdone: although the city is home to few monuments worthy of interest, it is nevertheless twinned with a nature reserve, the Nairobi National Park, one of the most beautiful in the world.
Are you ready to visit this metropolis perched at an altitude of 1800 metres? It’s a good thing we’ve prepared a list of the best tips for finding your dream accommodation in Nairobi.

How Is The Nightlife In Nairobi Now Any Curfews
Hi guys ! After safari me and a friend want some busy nightlife as we havent partied since Covid ! Are all the bars and restaurants open in Nairobi? And what is the best area for crazy nights crazy girls and fun ! Cheers

The curfew has been totally lifted. Bars and clubs are supposed to close at 11 pm but in South Coast where I am, they’re open basically all night. I’m not sure if Nairobi is enforcing the closing hours.

Thanks for your reply ! My friends all tell me to go to Mtwapa and all really enjoyed it there but Im unsure the crazy nightlife is definitely my thing but Ive also heard its not safe I never worry when I hear storys like this Ive done a lot of travelling over the years but with covid I know a lot of people are having a hard time which can make them do stupid things ! What do you guys think about
My partying days are long behind me but I’m told that since the curfew was lifted that many of the bars here on the North Coast are very busy, in the last few days I’ve been told by various people that Cheers , Safari Inn and Casuarina were all packed when they went. I don’t know anybody who has been to the lounge bars in Nyali recently so I don’t know how they are doing. .
To Get Context In Kibera
Some 60% of Nairobis residents live in slum areas, which make up just 6% of the citys land. Take away some added awareness and leave a little extra cash behind on a tour of the biggest: Kibera a sobering but not a depressing experience.
Around 250,000 people are thought to live in Kibera , most of whom sleep in make-shift shacks. The area isnt without its problems theres a high HIV infection rate and no proper drainage for waste and sewage but its still thriving with small businesses, from wedding dress shops to bakeries and butchers.
Take a tour with a trusted operator or local NGO worker.

David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust
At the main gates of Nairobi National Park, this orphan-elephant rescue and rehabilitation program is a must-see for animal lovers. Daphne Sheldrick founded the project in 1977 in memory of her late husband David, a former warden at Tsavo East National Park.
The center cares for young abandoned elephants and rhinos and works to release the animals back into the wild. You can watch these lovable creatures up close as they frolic in the mud and drink from giant baby bottles. Best of all, your entrance fee helps support the project’s conservation efforts.
If you want to help even more, consider adopting an orphaned elephant, rhino, or giraffe – you’ll receive regular updates on their progress long after you leave.

Dont Visit Nairobi Minus Travel Insurance
Many travelers consider travel insurance as an unnecessary expense You couldnt be further from the truth.
Travel insurance is a critical expense item that should come high on your travel budget.
Although I have been lucky to never been in a position to need compensation from my travel insurer, the peace of mind is incomparable.
Just knowing that should anything happen someone has my back puts my heart at rest.
It has also been a life saver for many others that I know.
If your belonging are stolen while abroad, travel insurance will refund you the equivalent up to an agreed maximum depending on what policy you purchase.
If you break your back while catching a matatu or fall sick while in Nairobi, travel insurance will cover your medical bills, which could run into thousands of shillings.
This is particularly important for those visiting Nairobi from outside of Kenya
In the unfortunate event that an immediate family member dies while youre here, travel insurance will ensure that you get home as soon as possible.
While its important to focus and hope for the best, it is only wise to also prepare for the worst.
I have always used and recommend World Nomads Travel Insurance. Theyre a great fit for almost every traveler. Take a look at their policies before you buy to make sure theyre right for you.

Hotel Near Best Wildlife Sites In Nairobi For Oct 2022
My husband and I are looking for accommodations in Nairobi that are in a safe area, but not that far from the Nairobi National Park. We plan to take a half-day safari tour and would like to be picked up at our hotel. Don’t want to spend a lot of time stuck in traffic. We land at 9:00 pm at JOMO, after a long trip, so something within 20 or 30 mins drive of the airport would be nice. We have 3 days on our own before meeting up with our tour group that takes us to Masai Mara and other parks. Any suggestions for wildlife viewing, tours of the city of Nairobi or active tours ? We are in our 60s and very active. We don’t need 4-5 star hotels or fine food at the hotel. Just breakfast and a safe neighborhood.

I would actually look at The Emakoko, on the south side of Nairobi National Park. It’s a lovely, owner-managed lodge in a beautiful area and they include everything, including game drive excursions through the park, visits to the Giraffe Centre and the Sheldrick Wildlife Trust elephant orphanage, plus all meals, drinks, park fees etc. They have very nice grounds, a pool, and complete tranquility, plus easy access to both airports.
