Which Area Will Have Best Hotels For Us
For some reason, I can’t seem to decide what area of Spokane to stay in. The descriptions I like best point to the airport area, but we want to explore Spokane. We definitely want to bike on the Centennial Trail on Sunday, and would like to walk around and explore as well. We’ll arrive by plane on a Saturday , rent a car, and leave on Monday to begin Idaho trip.
Husband wants free wi-fi, I love an included hot breakfast but it’s not required, prefer free parking, and want the area to be walkable including at night if possible. Would also like to know areas to avoid, if any.
Thanks so much for the help!
Downtown is where you want to stay. I’d probably stay at one of the park hotels. Those would be the most walkable ones, and I don’t think any of them charge for parking- or at least not much.
Not the airport at all if you want to walk around, and not Spokane Valley or the mall areas as well. Spokane is still very much a car centric city except downtown and the brownes addition. The later does not have hotels- or at least I don’t think it does.
Quality inn downtown is technically walkable and has the basics you want so if budget is a concern, it’s got the minimum basics. But better hotels/locations- roughly in the order I’d pick- courtyard, doubletree, red lion . RL Red Lion is on the other side of the river and a bit of a walk to restaurants in the dark- so it depends on how comfortable you feel. Holiday inn express is another option, but too much of a walk for me .

This is a review for hotels in Spokane, WA:
Unfortunately, we did not know it was Hoop Fest weekend. Tbs hotel raised their rates over $100 because of it! The hotel is noisy and definitely not worth over $300 for a room! Our biggest concern is the fact that we are members, we get reward points for using BW but there doesnt appear to be any benefits with that! This is price gouging at best!!

Ridley’s Piano Bar Is A Must

Ridley’s Piano Bar is a MUST. We had so much fun. If you get there before 6:45 no cover charge. At 6:45 the cover charge is $10. The Owner and his son play instruments and sign, but the others are really good too. The opening act was pretty good too. The Bartenders…Awesome. A lot of College Kids, but others around our age too, good mix. We had a blast. Next time in Spokane we will go there again.

North Perry / Crestline
The views not all bad in the North Perry Neighborhood, neither are the homes located directly behind where this picture was taken.
Interestingly, the feeder high school for North Perry / Crestline neighborhood is Lewis and Clark South Hills high school.
Above and beyond what high school your kids are going to go to, North Perry / Crestline has some dynamic characteristics. Lets start with its historic housing stock, which sure does come in handy if youre trying to be a distinct neighborhood. Geography helps, too. With its own little High Drive overlooking the Spokane River and the neighborhoods around it, Id take a home on Illinois Avenue any day over most homes in most other neighborhoods on this list.
North Perry / Crestline, as far as this list is concerned, is a proper pivot point from average Spokane neighborhoods to Spokane neighborhoods that can compete on a national scale.
Welcome to the upper echelon.

Sleepy Spokane Is A Beautifully Scenic City Surrounded By
Sleepy Spokane is a beautifully scenic city surrounded by lush, green mountains on all sides. You can definitely see the investments the local government has made in its downtown area which is really quite nice. The people are generally quite friendly, which is nice when you grow up in the northeast. Like most cities, it has its flaws and a host of unsavory characters. The local government has invested millions of dollars to curb the homelessness issues that have seemingly overrun the area and while the ideas are rooted in the care and well being of the people it serves, it inevitably gets twisted and warped into something that was never intended. All in all, it’s a beautiful little city with a lot of potential with the right civic leadership.
Spokane Or Spokane Valley

We plan to stay in Spokane for one night at the end of June on our way to Seattle
Would we be better in Spokane or Spokane Valley ?
We usually use Hampton Inns and can see there is one in each location but we are not sure which one to choose
Both have easy access to the interstate for arrive and depature. Spokane Valley is next to a large mall, walking distance. Lots of dining options and some shopping. West site is 4-miles out of downtown and has little immediately accessable. Drive to downtown is very easy for dining and shopping. Both are newer properties and well maintained.
The one closest to downtown is my favorite its so close just down sunset hill and youre in town, I wouldnt think it was four miles because its so easy to get to and from but k2 may be right. He is right about the valley one being close to restaurants the other one is to but youd have to go into town for them unless you like fast food then there is a ton of it all along 3rd street.
Try this for breakfast before you leave town.

Good Access To The Highway And Venue We Wished To Attend In
Good access to the highway and venue we wished to attend in town. Restaurants were available but no notable dining places were found on this or a previous trip. iHop was the most notable place. A listing provided by the hotel regarding dining locations would be a good addition to your information packet. Getting around in Spokane was easy using an online or satellite app on our phones. Otherwise, no map was provided by the hotel of the Spokane area like we have seen at other hotels around the country.
