Bonus : Where To Stay Near Venice Beach

What is Venice Lido ? Its a long island at the East of the city, considered to be the best beach spot for Venice.

The island has a 10-kilometer long strip of beach where you can stay and enjoy some sun on the sun loungers, or you can just sip a coffee on the waterfront in one of the many cafes in the area.

Another nice thing about Lido is that youll find plenty of traditional workshops that you can visit and learn more about glass blowing, one of the local crafts in Venice! Also, the well-known Venice Film Festival takes place each year in Lido, which is another nice bonus!

In terms of accommodation, youll find anything your heart desires here, from luxurious beachfront resorts to budget-friendly hostels. When you get hungry, you can indulge in amazing seafood dishes at the seafood restaurants located all around Lido!

NOTE: Even if Venice is a great destination year-round, I wouldnt say the same about Lido, as the resorts and food places here are rather seasonal. During winter, there wont be plenty of things to do around!

If you want to relax and indulge on a beach in Venice, here are the best accommodation options in Lido I could find:

Cannaregio Is The Perfect Spot To Stay For A More Local Feel

If you are looking for where to stay in Venice that is a little less expensive and has a more local feel, then the sestiere of Cannaregio is the place for you! It is the neighborhood of Venice where most of the locals actually live and the home of Venices Jewish Ghetto. If you visit during December, you might get to experience Cannaregios incredible Hanukkah celebrations.

There are wonderful sights to experience in Cannaregio, including the Ghetto, Ca dOro, an amazing Venetian palace, and the Church of Madonna dellOrto, which houses some of the works of the famous painter Tintoretto and is his burial place.

Cannaregio is definitely a great choice among the places to stay in Venice if you are looking for somewhere with a quieter, more local atmosphere, and especially if you are on a budget! You can find some great places to stay that are quite a bit cheaper than in other sestieri.

Upsides: Less crowded and touristy than other districts in Venice. Has a very local Venetian feel. It is a cheaper place to stay.

Downsides: A bit of a further walk to some of the most famous spots in Venice. A less iconic, touristy area. Expect to do a lot of walking and take public transport to get to some of the more popular sights.
