This is definitely the best area in Barcelona for people who are visiting the city for the very first time!

The famous avenue La Rambla is the center of this neighborhood and you can also find the popular La Boqueria Market there one of the most famous food halls in the entire city where you can go to buy authentic ingredients and food!

This neighborhood is perfect for people who want to do sightseeing, especially those of you who are visiting Barcelona for the very first time. If you stay there, you will be close to the central area and most of the attractions.

I list hotels as luxury, upscale, mid-range, and budget. A luxury hotel is a 5-star hotel, an upscale hotel is a 4-star property, a mid-range hotel is a 3-star property, and a budget hotel is a 1 or 2-star property or a hostel.

How Much Does it Cost to Stay in Barcelona?

If you are a budget traveler, you can spend as little as 20 per night in a hostel. If you are traveling as a group of two or more, a double room in a 2-star hotel will cost between 50 and 125. For the mid-range traveler, on average you will pay between 125 and 225 per night for a double room. 4-star rooms usually range from 225 to 350 per night, and the 5-star hotels usually start around 350 and go up from here.

These are the prices for a standard room at this level. 3-star hotels can offer deluxe rooms or rooms with a view for two or three times the price of one of their standard double rooms. The same goes for all classes of hotel.

Cheap hotels in Barcelona are hard to find in prime locations, but somehow Hotel Curious has managed to make it work just two blocks from La Rambla and La Boqueria Market. For those who want to explore, the bus stop is just steps away, or the more adventurous can rent a bicycle from the in-house tour desk. The efficiently situated rooms are simple, modern, and clean, many with charming balconies that overlook a narrow street.

Another hidden gem is Hotel Paral-lel, which has small but efficient rooms. This hotel sits on the outer edge of El Raval neighborhood, close to several concert halls and theaters, as well as Barcelona’s millennium-old Sant Pau del Camp monastery.

There is also a restaurant on-site, but it focuses on fine-dining Mediterranean, so it may not be suitable for younger kids. The location makes it easy to access plenty of city restaurants, however.

  • The Hotel DO Placa Reial is both romantic and historic, a neoclassical building in a wonderful spot, with wonderful views from its stepped terraces. Inside there are just 16 rooms and suites, decorated with parquet flooring and four-poster beds. Some of the grander rooms even have their own plunge pools. And there are two restaurants, a spa and a roof terrace with an incredible view.

Theres also an outdoor pool and snack bar, which sounds to us like the perfect place to chill out. The modernist building features large lounges, too. As you may be able to tell by the name, this hotel is close to Las Ramblas and just three minutes walk from Central Plaza Catalunya for easy access to all the sights and shopping of the city.
