Kauai The Most Natural Beauty Of The Hawaiian Islands
If Oahu has the people and the popular destinations, and Big Island has volcanoes, then Kauai takes the crown as the most natural beauty of the Hawaiian islands. Thats why Kauai is called The Garden Isle.
Kauai is less visited than most of the other islands and is the westernmost island in the Hawaiian chain. Its a beautiful green and mountainous place that is often compared to Jurassic Park.
The east coast of the Kauai is where the airport is and this is the most developed side of the island and the most convenient place to stay. Kapaa is the largest town on the island and here, youll find the widest selection of hotels and best infrastructure. There are good places to stay for most budgets, and plenty of restaurants, shops, and malls here, making it easier to get by on a budget.
One of the most impressive Kauai sights is the Na Pali Coast, a section of coastline on the islands north shore with stunning cliffs that drop precipitously into the ocean. Its best seen from the sea or by air, so a boat trip is the best way to explore this natural beauty.
Hanalei Bay is a crescent shaped bay, located at the mouth of the Hanalei River, on the north shore of Kauai. For centuries, Hanalei Bay has attracted a high class of visitor, due to its natural beauty.

Grand Naniloa Hotel In Hilo
This newly renovated property is a great choice if you are staying over in Hilo.
These are, in my humble opinion, some of my favorite places to stay on the Big Island of Hawaii. Ive been traveling here for the past decade and living here for the past five years.
I am a beach baby so I tend to stay more on the west side, occasionally venturing to the north or south shores but there truly is something different for each traveler no matter where you venture.
Hawaii is such a sacred, incredible place and its my pleasure to share ways to experience fully, tread lightly and honor the space in which youre exploring.

Other Parts Of The Island
Something that a lot of people dont talk about is staying in off-the-beaten path places to stay on the Big Island. If you want a traditional vacation of staying at a resort, going out to eat, etc. keep scrolling but if you enjoy a more unique travel experience you can always look into staying in South Kona, Volcano, Hawi, Waimea or Honokaa. These areas are more populated with locals but can be a great way to escape the crowds and immerse yourself in life here.
Depending on the length of your stay, you might want to split your stay on both the Kona side and Hilo on the east side during your trip. By doing so, you will alleviate a lot of extra driving and still be able to experience both sides of the island.
As I mentioned, there is so much to explore and experience on the Big Island. If you want to read more about things to do on the Big Island, you can read more here.
When staying on the Big Island, for those who are budget conscious, we recommend staying in a small inn or vacation rental. If budget isnt as much of a concern, there are some incredible options of accommodations available including upscale luxury resorts.
