Adèle and Jules are two halves of a single charming hotel or, technically, two hotels in one block. Reserved romantics will appreciate its low-hype offering 30 varied bedrooms in each of the buildings, a Taittinger-led honesty bar in Adèle and a superb welcome with a proper concierge service. This is combined with a tucked-away location in a newly but not aggressively trendified slice of the 9th, close to rue des Martyrs , Grands Boulevards and the Gare du Nord. Designer Stéphane Poux’s style is a deliberate mishmash of urbanity and generous homeliness, his eye travelling around ikat prints, Indian cotton quilts and witty, intriguing artworks. Club rooms have balconies big enough for prolonged nightcaps, a bathtub and twin basins. If you get a view say of the landmark BNP Paribas building or Grand Rex cinema the smaller deluxe rooms are charming too. Breakfast features eggs, sausages and mini viennoiseries, and between 4pm and 6pm there’s a pick-me-up of Dammann Frères tea, cakes, pastries and fruit. This takes place in a cosy living/breakfast room lined with decent reading material: not just the usual glossies, but also shelves of Folio paperbacks. The no-restaurant issue is very much a non-issue, with local options including Abri, Vivant and Richer. A sibling to long-time fashion-pack bolthole Hôtel Thérèse in the 1st and Hôtel Recamier in Saint-Germain, this civilised, chic four-star deserves to become a cult hero/heroine as well.

The 7th Arrondissement is quintessential Paris, at least to us. First of all, its at the feet of the Eiffel Tower, which means as youre walking around the 7th, whether its to the market or to catch the metro, youll likely catch a glimpse of the Eiffel Tower peeking out to say hi.
But the Eiffel Tower isnt the only thing that we like about the 7th Arrondissement. Rue Cler, a charming, narrow street lined with shops selling all sorts of delicious food and drinks, is one of our favorite places to visit in Paris. The wafting fumes of freshly baked croissants and croque madames will greet you several blocks before you reach the street itself, and you could spend hours stopping in to sample everything the vendors there have to offer.

I’ve Been To Paris Over A Dozen Times
I’ve been to Paris over a dozen times. I’ve traveled a good bit and I think Paris is the most beautiful city in the world. That said I would recommend getting away from the touristy areas. go there for the sites: take a walk along the Seine as far as you can go, see Notre Dame, the Louvre, Musee d’Orsey etc then go to less touristy neighborhoods — the 14th, the 17th, etc. They’re less expensive with better shops and restaurants. Basically like all big cities. The neighborhoods that were bohemian in Ernest Hemingway and Gertrude Stein’s time are, of course, nothing like they were then. Another note: if you like cemeteries Père Lachaise is fantastic.

Short Answer: I am a hotel guy mostly but do Airbnb for 7 nights + or countryside stays. Why? You dont even really need to check-in or out of hotels anymore let alone clean the bathroom before you leave. I want to spend my time on vacation hanging out with my wife & kids care-free. If I am in nature, a villa is a great choice and Airbnb makes it easy. That said, you gotta be you so do whatever feels best.
