Best For Luxury: Halekulani
Halekulani is a lesson in elegance. What started as a five-cottage property in 1917 has blossomed into 453-room luxury retreat along Waikiki Beach, with towers surrounding a lush central lawn and a tiled pool. The hotel doesnt necessarily go for in-your-face wow factors but offers guests more understated, impeccable experience. Take, for instance, the hotels seven shades of white, which are used to decorate the hotel in a way that emphasizes the colors of the views over the interiors. Theres also an in-house florist dedicated to Ikebana, the Japanese art of arranging flowers. For dining options, guests are treated to celebrated French cuisine at the fine-dining La Mer, more casual fare at House Without a Key, or an outdoor dining experience at Orchids. After dinner, drinks are served at Lewers Lounge, which also has live jazz every night. While theres no direct beach access the hotel sits on the water, but not a sandy beach the pool scene is lovely and certainly makes up for it. For the cherry on top, get a relaxing Polynesian-inspired treatment at the SpaHalekulani.
Best Oahu Resorts For Families
While Oahu is the most crowded of the Hawaiian Islands , its still a big draw for families. There are a TON of beach resorts on Oahu, but some are definitely better for kids than others.
I feel like this post needs a disclaimer up front: pretty much anywhere you go in Hawaii is going to be kid friendly. Hawaii is not a stuffy destination. The most posh and expensive hotels on the island caters to children quite amazingly and unless youre at the adults only pool , youll always find kids boogie boarding in the waves, bobbing around in the pool, and having dinner with their families. That being said, these resorts may appeal to children especially due to their pools or kids clubs, and parents due to their locations and convenience factors.
Aulani, a Disney Resort and Spa: No surprise here. Hands down THE BEST PLACE to stay for families in Hawaii. I dont think this recommendation even needs explaining, but if you need convincing you can read my full review here. Pricing starts at $400/night. Click here to check pricing/availability during your stay and read hundreds of reviews.
: Marriott Beach Clubs are geared towards families and this one is no different. Larger room options are available, there are so many pools, youll find every kind of beach and water activity you could dream of, and the protected lagoon is a great beach for young swimmers. Pricing starts at $320/night. Book a room directly with the Marriott here and read hundreds of reviews here.

Aston Waikiki Beach Hotel

Another Aston property makes the cut here, and its made notable by the lobby full of surfboards that collectively spell out A-S-T-O-N W-A-I-K-I-K-I. Once you step outside and cross the street on the golden sands famed Queens surf spot awaits. When done, tuck your board into hotel storage and head up to Tikis Bar & Grill to enjoy a Mai Tai at the bar and tell the barstool companion next to you about your recent session. Theyll be more than happy to listen, but will invariably return with a comment stating It was much bigger yesterday. Isnt it always?
