A Classic Hotel With An Eye On The Future

Under the helm of the young, glamorous general manager Dee Patel, Nashville’s historic Hermitage Hotel is undergoing a style makeover from the hotel’s graphics to its gorgeous lobby, bringing it into a chic new age. Craft cocktails in the rooms instead of stuffy old-school minibars and an ultra-Gen Z pink-themed in-house coffee shop, the Pink Hermit make this downtown landmark elegant with an edgy twist.

One of Nashvilles premiere hotels for over a century, the Hermitage Hotel is steeped in history. Six presidents have stayed there, including John F. Kennedy and Franklin D. Roosevelt, as well as luminaries like Bette Davis, Greta Garbo and gangster Al Capone. The lobby oozes old school luxury and the guest rooms have been upgraded to meet 21st-century desires for the finer things. One of the top restaurants in Nashville, Drusie & Darr, is on the lower level. Believe it or not, one of the big draws to the building is a mens bathroom, a restored Art Deco masterpiece so impressive, it compels women to sneak in and take a peek.

It’s been 10 years since our last trip to Nashville. The prices really skyrocketed. Rooms rates we’re really high heading toward the weekend. $8 beers on Broadway. Food prices were reasonable. The entertainment was good. The city smells a little more that I remember, more homeless people than I remember. It was busy but you could get around ok and get into most places. Next time, I’ll stay Tuesday and Wednesday in Nashville and go somewhere else for the weekend.

Nashville’s weather can get hot in the summer, but it is not particularly far to the South, resulting in milder temperatures than what one might find in locations such as neighboring Mississippi. Summertime temperatures will often approach 90, but this area does not have quite the levels of humidity as the Deep South, making the hot weather more bearable and the precipitation much less frequent than some other Deep South cities. Spring and fall are a very pleasant and mild time to visit Tennesse, with September temperatures hovering in the 70s and staying in the 50-60 degree range well into November. In the spring, temperatures will frequently start hitting 70 as early as April Winter does bring some occasional freezing weather and snow, but not that often. Low temperatures rarely drop into much more than the low 20s, and wintertime highs can be as much as 50 degrees.

Where To Stay In Nashville Near Nightlife

NASHVILLE: Best Boutique Hotels in Downtown Nashville (Top 5!)

Hi. I’m planning a trip to Nashville in August, and am having a hard time understanding the neighborhoods. I’d like to stay at a hotel near the nightlife so I can walk back to my hotel after a night out at bar, listening to music, etc. What neighborhood is that exactly? Music Row? Downtown?

Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

You will want to stay downtown. Music Row is a few miles west of town and is home to primarily the business side of country music and offices of the big record companies, although there are a few bars there. The honkytonk action will be found around Lower Broadway, 2nd Ave, , all within walking distance of each other and hotels. What’s your price range on a hotel?

I always say the hilton it is directly across the street from Broadway where the honky tonks are as well as only a couple of blocks from 2nd ave where all the clubs are.

There are also a few bars on music row that are fun but you would not be able to walk to those at night just short cab ride

The Renaissance or the Hilton. Both are nice and within walking distance of Broadway nightspots. From there it is a short, inexpensive cab ride to the other bars/restaurants/nightlife on West End/Division/Demonbreun.

Have fun.

I also recommend the Hilton. We stayed there this past weekend and it was great! Very close to the night life. You can walk to the bars in less than 5 minutes.
