Bar Harbor Inn Vs West Street Hotel

Staying in Bar Harbor 3 nights in September. Anniversary Trip. In your opinion is it worth the extra $450 in total cost to stay at the Bar Harbor Inn in the Main Inn 2nd Floor Harbor View vs West Street Ocean Front? Both look great. Thanks for any feedback!

Only you can judge how to spend your money. Here’s the difference in the two. At the Bar Harbor Inn, you will be directly on the water, with only lawn and the Shore Path between you and the gentle surf. You will have a sun rise view right from your balcony. It will be quiet, with only boat traffic noise. You’ll see the lobster boats go out in the early morning. You’ll be sheltered from any street noise. There is a nice pool with an infinity edge. Great landscaping on the property.

At West Street Hotel you will be in a newer, nicely decorated hotel with great amenities. There is an adult-only swimming pool on the roof. You have access to the Bar Harbor Club facilities across the street, including large waterfront pool, bar, and tennis courts. Your view of the water from your room will be more limited. You will see more of the inner harbor rather than wide water. You will be looking over a busy street. There will probably be road and pedestrian noise late into the night.

Ellsworth Where To Stay Near Acadia National Park

Lets round off this list of where to stay in Acadia National Park with a place we never considered ourselves before we arrived Ellsworth.

Why didnt we consider it?

Well, its a 20 mile drive from Bar Harbor to Ellsworth back on the main land and that can take anywhere between 30 60 minutes depending on time of day.

So, why are we including it on this list?

Because we met at least a dozen hikers and photographers at Acadia who said they were staying in Ellsworth. Hotels are much cheaper and food options are more diverse, including fast food.

Note: Were certainly not promoting fast food, but it can get really expensive when you sit down for all 3 meals of the day, every day for a 3 day visit!

Therefore, Ellsworth may just be the budget saving salvation you are looking for in order to see Acadia on the cheap. As long as you dont mind the ~40 minute drive in and out each day, this is the best place to stay if youre low on spends.
