Best Time Of Year To Visit Boston

While Boston has a lot to offer 12 months a year, some times are better than others for a visit. First, Boston can get its share of snow and cold weather during winter. On those freezing cold days, being outside for any length of time can be tough and put a damper on your visit. Some activities, such as the Duck Boat Tours, are seasonal and do not run in the winter. I love the spring and fall in Boston with perfect weather for walking around not too hot and not too cold.

Also, with Boston being the college capital of the US, youll want to steer clear during move-in days and graduation. The city is packed with tourists and the families of students and hotel rates can be at all-time highs . This means stay away Labor Day weekend and almost every weekend in May. Many schools also host family weekends in October, which can put a squeeze on hotel availability.

Ride The T To Harvard Square

If you ever wanted to park your car in Harvard you may end up extremely disappointed as parking is nearly impossible to find in Harvard Square. And, it is very expensive.

But a great thing to do in Boston with teens is to ride the T from the city to one of the top Boston tourist sites and home to one of the most esteemed universities in the world, Harvard Square. Its a great place to walk around and get a Harvard or Boston souvenir.

Why not take a guided tour of Harvard University.

Best Boston Neighborhood For Second

If youve been to Boston before and want to see something new, I suggest the Seaport District, also known as the South Boston waterfront. Over the past decade, this waterfront has gone from mostly offices and parking lots to becoming one of the hottest neighborhoods in town. A great option for longtime Boston fans!

Its completely unrecognizable from when I worked there a decade ago! All we had back then was the unmarked Luckys Lounge. For that reason, if youve been to Boston before, this is a chance to experience something completely different.

The Institute of Contemporary Art has always been a hallmark of the neighborhood, but now there are art installations and galleries throughout the neighborhood. You can visit shops like the first L.L. Bean in an urban area, restaurants like Babbo Pizzeria and Legal Test Kitchen, bars like Temezcal and City Tap House as well as the Harpoon Brewery, and plenty of parks and green spaces with gorgeous views of downtown Boston.

Note that the Seaport is very different from both South Boston and the South End. The Seaport is bordered by the South End, South Boston, and downtown Boston. The silver line has several stops here and theres talk of adding more public transportation.
