Staying In Jasper For Cheap
Im planning on coming to Jasper from September 7th till the 10th, and I cant find any cheap places to stay. All the hotels are wildly expensive, and the hostels, are all booked up. Are there any cheap alternatives I could look into?
6 replies to this topic
Jasper + September + cheap + less than 3 weeks lead time – doesnt compute. September is still a very busy time of year and you are also dealing with people who are now taking their delayed 2020 and 2021 holidays.
I had a quick look at the link krp gave you for private home accommodations and there was only one property available for your dates at $350/night. Nothing at all at the Downtown Hostel.
Your only alternative may be to look at Hinton which is about an hour away.
Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge One Of The Best Hotels In Jasper
We stayed at Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge for one night and we loved the hotel. We had a fireplace in the room and it was only a 5-minute walk to the stunning Sunwapta Falls. This is undoubtedly one of the best places to stay in Jasper.
Sunwapta Falls Rocky Mountain Lodge, one of the best hotels in Jasper
We also really liked the board at reception with a Rocky Mountain map where each visitor can put colored pins to indicate which animal he or she saw, how many days ago it was, and at what exact point on the map it was seen. A good way to know where to go to see the fauna of the Canadian Rockies. Also, breakfast was delicious, making it an accommodation in Jasper that I recommend.

Luxury And Higher End Places To Stay In Jasper
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is one of the best hotels in Jasper National Park.
This is one of my favorite Fairmont mountain properties. Its nestled deep in the woods, and all the rooms are cabin-style!
This place is awesome because you get the rustic alpine style vibe with all the luxurious service and offerings of a Fairmont property. And you will often wake up to deer and elk quietly roaming around the property.
All rooms come with awesome ground level patios with comfy lounge chairs.
Tip: try to get a room overlooking the waterstunning! And the outdoor hot tub and heated pool provide some pretty majestic views.
The JPL is not within walking distance to town, but its just over a 5 minute drive. If you dont have a vehicle there are shuttles or taxis that will take you there very easily.
A very comparable high end property is the Pyramid Lake Resort.
Here you can go canoeing, fishing and hiking right out your front door. In the summer you can enjoy a private beach for guests only, and in the winter its the perfect place for ice skating on a frozen lake surrounded by mountains.
Its the perfect place to unwind, disconnect, grab a seat on a cozy chair outside and watch the wildlife pass by!

Jasper is a small and isolated town in the Canadian Rocky Mountains and it is a great place to stay to explore Jasper in winter or drive the Icefields Parkway. Due to its location being in a national park, finding affordable accommodation options in Jasper are limited.
Jasper has a number of hotel options located within the town within walking distance to all restaurants and stores, as well as a few others a 5-10 minute drive away. Many people have dreams of staying at the luxurious Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge, the undisputed luxury hotel option in Jasper.
However, if you are traveling to Jasper on a budget this hotel is not cheap and is not likely to be a viable option. We will take you through some of the great options for where to stay in Jasper on a budget.

Best Places To Stay In Jasper: Mid

For reasonably priced, resort-style digs, is a fantastic choice.
Located on the outskirts of Jasper town, this full-service lodge is on our list for its reasonable prices, which are considerably lower than at its peer resorts in the city. However, its also one of the more popular places to stay in Jasper, so be sure to book early if you want to get a room.
While the property and rooms are a bit more dated than other resorts, it also doesnt have as high of a price tag. Rooms are clean and spacious and come with classic hotel amenities like high-quality linens and toiletries.
At the resort, they have a pool, hot tub, a gym, a restaurant, and a concierge service that can help with booking tours and excursions. Its also walkable to Jasper town center, where you can find a wide variety of food and shopping options.
Overlander Mountain Lodge
For one of the most beloved places to stay in Jasper that doesnt break the bank, the Overlander Mountain Lodge is a consistently well-rated lodge on the outskirts of Jasper National Park. While its a 30-40 minute drive from Jaspers town center, the Overlander Mountain Lodge is a prime location for exploring some of the areas hiking trails, as well as the Miette Hot Springs.
Because of its more remote location, the Overlander Mountain Lodge can usually be found for ~$100 per night . And, if you have a car, its just down the central road in Jasper, so its not a difficult drive by any means.

A Jasper National Park Hotel With A World
Boasting one of the countryâs best resort courses, Fairmount Jasper Park Lodge is not just a golferâs dreamâthere are outdoor activities within the 700 acres of unspoiled parkland to keep the whole family occupied. The grounds wrap around emerald Lac Beauvert, so you can canoe across still waters or stroll the one-hour walking trail. You might even spot a moose taking a swim! Should you want a change of scenery, youâre only a 10-minute drive to the town of Jasperâyou can pop out for that latte and be back in time for a Glacial Massage and organic mud treatment at the resortâs nature-inspired spa.
For accommodation, youâll find heritage log cabins and cedar chalets connected by paths, giving the place the charm of a mountain village. Greet the morning from the outdoor patio of your Fairmont Lakeview Room with a hot coffee under the radiant sunshine. Larger groups might opt for a luxury signature cabin, choosing between the rustic Point Cabin or the Gardnerâs Cottage with its own outdoor fire pit.

This is another fantastic Hostelling Internationals Property in the Rocky Mountains! Lake Louise is notoriously expensive, but visitors can easily stay here without breaking the bank.

$$$ Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge
Rated as a 4-star property, Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge offers a luxurious accommodation experience to guests on the edges of Beauvert Lake located in the Canadian Rocky Mountains. I personally like this resort as it has an award-winning golf course, eight on-site restaurants, and a 10,000 square foot spa.
If you want a luxury stay in Jasper, the Fairmont is your safest bet.
Offering lake views, rooms at the hotel are all complete with a flat-screen TV and a refrigerator. Near the property, activities like ice skating and cross-country skiing are possible if youre visiting Jasper in the winter, while you can swim in the outdoor pool and go horseback riding in the summer.
What I love the most about Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is its location. It is only a 9-minute drive from the VIA Railway Station and is just a couple of minutes drive from downtown. It isnt walking distance from downtown, but only a very short drive which makes it a quiet nature escape still within close proximity to the amenities of town.
In terms of a luxury stay in Jasper town, it is the only option available. But thanks to being situated a little out of town, the resort still gives that kind of natural escape. The best of both worlds.
This is a great option especially if youre planning a romantic occasion or honeymoon in Jasper!

Best Places To Stay In Jasper: Hostels In Jasper
Lets be real the Canadian Rockies are NOT an easy place to travel on a budget. However, you can save a lot of money on Jasper accommodations by a) booking in advance and b) staying in a hostel . If youre open to the hostel life, here are two great options for you in Jasper.
Jasper Downtown Hostel
Arguably the best of the budget Jasper accommodations, the Jasper Downtown Hostel is a backpackers oasis in the heart of downtown Jasper. This is the best Jasper hostel in our opinion, and is definitely worth looking into for your trip to the park.
With dorms at ~$35 USD per night and private rooms for a bit more, its a fantastic, clean, and cozy budget option in a fabulous location. The rooms have big, ensuite bathrooms and central heating/AC to make sure youre totally comfortable at all times.
Super friendly staff members provide insider tips and access to Jaspers best, local-approved attractions, and spacious communal areas and free Wi-Fi give you a comfortable place to relax and socialize after a long day of hiking or adventuring.
HI Hostels
Hostelling International has a network of hostels all over the world, including Jasper! While Ive actually never stayed at any of the HI hostels in Canada, Ive heard theyre super affordable and offer a great base for mountain exploration.

Aptly named, Pocahontas Cabins is just five minutes from the east gate of Jasper National Park and close to the original Pocahontas coal mine trail . Youâll have your very own standalone log cabin here, or you can opt for a one-bedroom suite in the main building if youâve got your eye on the heated outdoor pool and sun terrace.
Get into the vacation spirit with some fun family activities on-site like horseshoe toss, or putt your way around the outdoor golf course. You can spend snowy days playing board games and chess, or show off your skills at the snooker table. When youâre ready to get out and explore the area, Miette Hot Springs is a short drive away through soul-soothing scenery, where youâll soak in natural hot water flowing from the mountains.
