Thehotel is located in the north of The Strip, but is so surrounded by casinos and nightlife that it feels like the epicenter. It is connected to its sister property, The Palazzo, by the Grand Canal Shoppes and it is possible to walk to most places, or take one of the convenient buses that stop outside. Given the glorious aesthetic, even the short wait in the lobby to register felt like part of a visit to the museum, and the impeccable training of hospitality of the staff was a joy.
The most celebrated installation in the place is, of course, the Grand Canal itself, and guests can slip into authentic gondolas between Venetian street scenes and under the bridges, serene by the pilots operability. The options of shops and restaurants found in the Grand Canal Shoppes range from the high-end to the populist, and the complex also houses the ultra-decadent Canyon Ranch Spa Club.
There are about 4,000 suites on the property, which gives you an idea of its scale. Even the entry-level luxury suites, however, did not feel like a generic, generic room production line. The sunken living room is the most luxurious touch and is adorned with the dark purples of the velvet sofas, the large padded headboards and the bright marble countertops.
