Best Place To Stay In London Uk

The Savoy Covent Garden

London Travel Guide 2021 – Best Places to Visit in London England United Kingdom in 2021

Best for: Art Deco vibes

Though people tend to think of it as monolithic and unchanging, The Savoy has something of a split personality and has in fact changed a great deal over the years. It’s decorated in Edwardian style on the Thames side from which Monet and Whistler painted the river but it’s quintessentially Art Deco on the Strand side. Rooms are large and traditional but never frumpy and in a world of shrinking bathtubs, The Savoy’s remain satisfyingly deep. The Savoy Grill is excellent and The River Restaurant by Gordon Ramsay brings the best of British seafood and shellfish and the hotel is blessed with two of the finest watering holes in London, The American Bar, granddaddy of London’s cocktail bars, and its younger, sassier sibling, The Beaufort Bar. So don’t even try to make it an ‘either/or’ proposition it must be an ‘and’. To find out more, read our The Savoy London hotel review.

Colloquial Districts Of London

You might want to ask where is the West End area, as youve probably heard about it. West End is actually not an official geographical or municipal definition, but a term used colloquially by Londoners. Therefore the exact constituent parts are up for debate.

Depending on the person, the zones of London can be divided differently and hold different names. Further on, Ill be referring to the most used names of the districts and the closest major tube stations nearby.

Megaro Hotel A Cool And Funky Intimate Boutique Hotel

I just loved this place! The fabulous and very cool 4-star Megaro Hotel is both reasonably priced and perfectly located for Kings Cross Station and easily exploring central London by a very short tube or bus ride. On the outside I was greeted with a colourful mural emblazoned across its Victorian exterior, the reception had very funky decor and super-friendly staff and the rooms were spacious with a high standard of modern decor which is sadly pretty unusual for London!

Theres an artistic eclectic boutique feel about the place and they also offer family-friendly rooms and larger apartments for longer stays. Expect the trendy rooms to feature large rain showers, free WiFi, flat-screen TVs, and the apartments have additional kitchens. The onsite chic restaurant and cool vintage-style bar which specialises in fabulous cocktails is another great reason to opt for this trendsetting London hotel. A fabulously funky, great all-rounder!

Nobu Hotel Portman Square Marylebone

Best for: foodies

Nobu Hotel Portman Square spills out onto a cool, cosmopolitan terrace reminiscent of New York and builds on Nobus Park Lane legacy while adding fresh, minimalist rooms and chill-out spaces to complete the picture. There are no frills or fancy here its all smooth urban energy with design-led chairs and sleek tables where Londons glitterati fine-dine on signature dishes such as black cod miso and yellowtail sashimi, sizzling wagyu beef, Chilean sea bass and wasabi lime miso. The restaurant feels grown up, sexy even, with flashes of diamonds, stilettos and red lacquered chopsticks, while the bedrooms demonstrate Japanese minimalism in its purest form: clean lines, muted woods, restrained natural fabrics. For a near-mythical, indulgent lunch or supper experience, followed by a calming sleep in the bedrooms, this is a hotel thats earned its spot occupying the corner of one of s handsomest patches. Staying without booking a table in the restaurant is akin to visiting The Ritz and forgoing their famed London afternoon tea. To find out more, read our review of Nobu Hotel Portman Square. Favourite Hotels In Kensington

  • Blakes is the granddaddy of all boutique hotels, a wonderfully theatrical creation with 45 individually decorated decadent, themed rooms crammed full of wonderful antiques, interesting artwork and beautiful fabrics. Plus, of course, the restaurant is excellent and youre peacefully, but well located, on the edge of Chelsea.

The simplest way to get around in London is the Underground . Londons Best Family Hotels

  • Its very grand but No.11 Cadogan Gardens, the eclectically styled, lavishly decorated luxury boutique hotel just behind Chelsea’s Sloane Square, is a really great London hotel recommendation for families. The family suites are lovely and big, with huge windows, and expansive marble bathrooms, and the hotel, which has been converted from several red brick townhouses, is an exciting warren of secret-feeling passages and surprise public spaces. Theres a library, a drawing room and a terrace, and the restaurant is excellent. Perfect if you or your children appreciate a Murano chandelier!

Camden: Best Place To Stay For Hipsters Music Lovers And Budget Travelers

Bohemian, eclectic, bustling, and vibrant these are just some of the words used to describe Camden, the north London neighborhood that celebrates diversity in all its forms.

Good to know: Camden Town is located about 15-minutes by tube from the heart of the city center of London. So youll need to take a metro for all the other main attractions. This is one of the reasons why its cheaper to stay here compared to the more central areas.

Home to the world-famous Camden Market and the place where Britains Punk movement began, Camden Town offers plenty of attractions for its visitors both day and night.

Indy shops and stalls abound, selling counter-culture clothes and accessories, vintage goods, pop art, handmade goods and so much more. Youll find virtually every kind of cuisine served here, both in the local eateries and at the street food section of the market on the Regents Canal.

And when you need a break from the hustle and bustle of the crowded streets, a walk along the canals towpath takes you away from the action and a little closer to nature.

When the sun goes down, its time to hit Camdens many bars, pubs, and entertainment venues, where you can usually catch comedy or a live band. The area has a rich musical heritage, with bands like Snow Patrol and Oasis starting out here. And whatever musical genre floats your boat, youll find somewhere to enjoy it in Camden.

Best Place To Stay In London For Live Music Camden

Whilst these days Shoreditch might be considered Londons capital of cool, if youre primarily interested in listening to live music during your evenings then its worth staying in Camden.

In a lot of ways, Camden is quite similar to Shoreditch with its own set of cool markets to explore, hip eateries to try and bars to have a drink at.

However, what makes Camden stand apart from the rest of London is its live music scene which has many venues where world-famous artists have performed such as Prince, Blur, Coldplay and many more. Camden has also produced many musicians, most famously Amy Winehouse who has a statue dedicated to her in Camden Market.

The sheer music history in Camden makes it the best area to stay in London for tourists who want to immerse themselves in live music and see as many gigs as they can during their stay in London!
