San Marco Between Parks
North of Brera you can find San Marco, a nice residential area between two of the biggest parks in Milan, the Sempione Park and the Indro Montanelli Gardens.

The centre is reachable with a 20 to 30 minutes walk or just 5 minutes by metro

We are staying couple of days in Lerici and have a flight back home from Milan. We have been in Milan before so we would like to spend one night somewhere in 100-200 km radius of Milan.

Home to Milans Academy of Fine Arts since the 18th century, the Brera Design District is the perfect way to end your one day in Milan: known for its fashionable cafes, restaurants, and nightlife, you couldnt ask for a better finishing point to a whirlwind day in Milan.
If you get here early enough, there are some interesting museums to check out in the area, including Milans well-known painting gallery at Pinacoteca, the beautiful Braidense National Library, and the Museo Astronomico, which I think speaks for itself.
Citta Studi Where To Stay In Milan For Relaxation
If you want to know where to stay in Milan on a budget, Citta Studi is perfect. Translated as City of the Studies, this is the student area of Milan. Rather than a party scene you might expect, youll find tree-lined streets, parks, and plazas. Its actually pretty quiet in terms of nightlife and accommodation, but there are a few boutique hotels and hostels tucked in here and there.
Piazza Leonardo da Vinci is a great place to kick back, grab some street food and people watch. Theres also a small botanical garden in the neighborhood. Corso Buenos Aires, which is allegedly the longest shopping street in the world, leads from Citta Studi to Porta Venezia.

Where To Stay In Milan: Porta Romana
Great area for: Family friendly Giardini della Guastalla Laid-back & quiet
Porta Romana is a pretty and laid back suburban area. Families and those who arent in the mood for the noise of the Navigli or prices of Brera can often find a good, quiet spot to stay in this neighbourhood.
There are also two hospitals in the area as well as the oldest public park in the city, Giardini della Guastalla.
Grand Visconti Palace A charming 4-star with a lovely indoor swimming pool, spa and steam rooms, fitness facility and a restaurant serving traditional Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Classy rooms have tea and coffee making facilities, minibars, flat screen TVs, safes, and wonderful showers in the bathrooms with complimentary toiletries. Located a 4-minute walk to the Lodi metro stop , which is just 4 stops to the Duomo and Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II. Porta Venezia: The Best Area In Milan For Nature Lovers
Another great area to stay in Milans historic center is Porta Venezia.
In the neighborhood, you can hunt for bargain deals at chain stores and outlets. The shops occupy staggering Neoclassical structures, which line the main shopping street, Corso Buenos Aires.
Dont miss a photo op with Porta Venezia, the striking monumental gate of Milan and name-giver of the area. The Neoclassical building from the 19th century replaced older gates that were part of the Medieval and Roman city walls. The current porta consists of two twin buildings, which served as customs offices.
However, the main reason to recommend this quarter is the drop-dead gorgeous park Giardini Indro Montanelli. The 18th-century public garden is home to the splendid Natural History Museum, the majestic Palazzo Dugnani, and the intriguing Planetarium Ulrico Hoepli.
The Natural History Museum hosts an incredible collection of rare fossils, minerals, and animals in a stunning building. The 18th-century Palazzo Dugnani houses Galleria dArte Moderna, where you can admire European art. Planetarium Ulrico Hoepli dates back to the 1930s and invites to enlightening astronomical shows in its impressive auditorium with 300 seats.

Take A Short Walk To See The Ossuary At San Bernardino Alle Ossa
6-minute walk from the Duomo Complex.
This is perhaps a bit offbeat and often left off of itineraries attempting to cover Milan in one day, but Jeremy and I find ossuaries fascinating and cant bear to leave it off.
This small ossuary is tucked inside the Church of San Bernardino and is home to a seriously impressive number of bones.
The small chapel is decorated with human bones, including skulls stacked into gigantic crucifixesit truly is a sight to behold.
The ossuary dates back to the 13th century, though its current formation comes from the 17th. The skeletons are believed to primarily have come from people who died at the nearby Brolo hospital, which no longer existswith one exception.
The bones encased above the door are said to have come from executed prisoners.
Spooky, right?
If you dont like bones, though definitely skip this one!
