Don’t miss the bicentenary park just behind the capitol, with its farmers market, wonderful granite monuments explaining the history of the city, and the fantastic museum and library. We were on a budget and this was all free. Also, we walked everywhere rather than pay for a day bus ticket, and found that was perfectly possible. Buses are cheap and we found the bus drivers to be very helpful and friendly.

How To Get To Nashville
Delighting both Americans and international visitors, Nashville is home to its very own international airport. Nashville International Airport, about eight miles from downtown, services major airlines such as Southwest, Delta, Westjet, Alaska, American, Air Canada, and British Airways.
To get from the airport to downtown, we personally recommend using Lyft, which cost us about $15. Other options include taking the $2 hourly express bus service that takes around 20 minutes, or taxis for roughly $25.

Coffee & Brunch At Pinewood Social
Pinewood Social is a must-visit Nashville hotspot, and not just because its what Instagrammable dreams are made from .
Pinewood Social is many things: a restaurant, a bar, a coffee shop, a bowling alley, a pool, a bocce ball court yep, ALL of them. In one place. Amazing! You could spend an entire day hanging out here, and many do.
If you bring a group of friends, renting a lane and relaxing in the pool is the PERFECT all-day group activity.
For Jeremy and I, the biggest draw was the food and the coffee.
First things first: the coffee at Pinewood Social is excellent. Were proud coffee snobs, and Pinewood Social lives up! Their beans come from local specialty coffee roasters Crema Coffee incidentally located right around the corner and theyve created an in-house cafe right at the entrance of Pinewood Social.
So even though there was about a 30-minute wait for a table we were happy to sit on a cozy chair, sip some truly excellent coffee, and peruse the menu. Jeremy ordered a pour-over and I ordered a cortado, because yall know we had to evaluate the coffee AND the espresso .
Pinewood Socials weekend brunch menu includes Southern classics like chicken and biscuits or brown butter waffles, plus unexpected treats like a Croque Madame, a Lobster Roll, and breakfast tacos.
If youre feeling up for it, the brunch cocktails looked fantastic, but were barely functioning in the morning as it is so we didnt partake. To be fair, they also had some coffee cocktails for balance.

How Long To Spend In Nashville
Nashville is the perfect place for a short and sweet getaway. 3 days is an ideal amount of time to stay in Nashville, though you can make it 5 if youd like to spend more time on daytime attractions, catch a game, or just have another Honky Tonks type of night.
What makes Nashville stand out from other US cities is that a lot of its most famous attractions are close together, and the city actually has affordable public transit.
This means you can pack a LOT into 3 days in this Southern city, and even more into 5. A week might be too much unless youre a major music fan that is!

Yes! Nashville is a very fun city to spend a weekend in. Youll want to stay downtown so youre in the center of everything and can maximize your time. Nashville is fun whether youre a solo traveller, on a trip with friends, or are spending the weekend in Nashville as a couple.

Downtown Where To Stay In Nashville For The First Time
Downtown Nashville is a neighborhood located in the geographic city center. As the heart of the music city beat, Downtown is a hub for entertainment overflowing with music venues, cultural amenities, and historic attractions.
Furthermore, most people choose Downtown to enjoy a one-of-a-kind experience on Lower Broadway. The bars offer live music welcoming guests to party until the early morning hours.
But Downtown is not just for partiers! Apart from restaurants, bars, hotels, and great views of the Cumberland River, Downtown Nashville or SoBro includes Bridgestone Arena, the Country Music Hall of Fame, the Ryman Auditorium, Nissan Stadium, the Johnny Cash Museum, and many more.

The only place weve ever been that even compares to the Honky Tonk Highway was Beale Street in Memphis, although Beale Street has its own very unique music, vibe, and energy.
Spend your Friday evening strolling up and down Broadway admiring brightly colored neon signs, taking in the crowds , and soaking up that energy and excitement that you can only find in a city with music flowing through its veins.

Watch A Show At The Grand Ole Opry
One quintessential Nashville attraction that you just have to visit is the Grand Ole Opry. Its been called the home of American music and is one of the most popular things to do in Nashville. This is the oldest continuous radio program in the US, dating all the way back to 1925.
You have several options for visiting the Grand Ole Opry. There are shows every Friday and Saturday night, as well as Tuesday nights from March to December. They also run a variety of tours if you want to learn more and get backstage.

To the east of downtown, the is convenient to the legendary Grand Ole Opry and the other Opryland attractions, including Madame Tussauds Nashville and the Opryland Museum. Its super touristy, but doing the honky-tonk bar crawl up Broadway can be a lot of fun. After several whiskey drinks, you just might want to get up and dance on the bar at Coyote Ugly. Go ahead, I wont judge.

Yes yall, we saved the best for last: Nashville Hot Chicken.
I actually first tried hot chicken in Louisville a few restaurants selling Nashville style hot chicken have migrated north in recent years .
As a Kentucky girl, I have a deep-seated appreciation for crispy, breaded chicken but Nashville takes fried chicken to a level of its own. Spices are worked straight into the batter and fried up for perfectly crispy, spicy, delicious chicken. Throw in some Mac and Cheese and creamy potato salad, and hot dayum, our love for Nashville was cemented for life.
But as travel lovers and foodies, Jeremy and I both know that you havent REALLY tried a local food until youve had it in the place where it was invented. And Nashvilles Hot Chicken was invented in the 70s by the family of Andre Prince Jeffries, owner of Princes Hot Chicken.
The story goes that the invention of hot chicken was a prank gone right: the girlfriend of her womanizing great-uncle Thornton cooked him a fried chicken breakfast with extra pepper as revenge. But Thornton decided he liked it so much that, by the mid-1930s, he and his brothers had created their own recipe and opened a cafe to sell it. The family has been selling Nashvilles best and most authentic hot chicken ever since!

The Belmont-Hillsboro Village neighborhood is located in the south of the city. It is a relaxed, primarily residential area, filled with local restaurants, bars, and shops.
Its proximity to the university makes it a popular destination for students, who gravitate here as a way to get a little peace, away from the hectic environment in the universitys immediate vicinity.
This has helped to create a truly bohemian atmosphere to the area. Independent clothes stores, book shops, vegan food shops and even an art gallery complete a truly hip environment.
As does the Belcourt Theatre, where you have the chance to take in a classic or art-house movie in historic surroundings.

You arent likely to find any major chain hotels in the area, but those looking for a small family hotel or private vacation rentals shouldnt have an issue.

Germantown Where To Stay For Families
Established in the mid 19th century, Germantown is one of the most developed suburbs that boasts jam-packed boutiques, friendly restaurants, and upbeat bars. This neighborhood is great for families as there are plenty of fun things to do, it is located just a bit North from Downtown.
When you walk around Germantown, I suggest stopping at Steadfast Coffee for some really good coffee or a quick bite for breakfast.
For an authentic experience, you can book a little apartment or an adorable hotel with a broad view of the citys skyline. Another thing you can do here is shopping the area is dotted with superb boutiques!
