Choose Wisely Where To Stay
When I choose my accommodation, I want to be sure that it is easily reachable by public transportation. Whether its for getting quickly from the airport or going back to rest after walking all day long, youll need appropriate accommodation.
During the festival, the majority of the city is closed for vehicles , and some buses dont work or have a different route. Thats why the best area to stay during Las Fallas is close to a Metro station.
Although there arent many Metro stations in Valencia, the city center is surrounded by a few. Its an easy way to get around the different parts of the city, which is mostly blocked and requires a lot of walking.
If you book accommodation right in the middle of the city center , you probably wont have close access to public transportation.
On Airbnb, there are many great options, and I used it twice already to find an apartment for the festival. However, its important to know that the hosts on Airbnb usually update their rates only in December and January .
It means that you either need to wait for the updated rates or send a direct message to the hosts to consult their festival rates. Find accommodation on Airbnb and have a discount on your first trip here.
If youre not into Airbnb, no worries. Here are a few highly-rated accommodations with a good location for the festival:

Exe Casa De Los Linajes
Near: San Esteban District
Price Range: $166-$237 a night
Whats not to like about staying at a 16th century building-turned-hotel? Exe Casa de Los Linajes exudes an aristocratic feel, thanks to its original features, antique-style furniture, and plush common and private rooms.
Set in the San Esteban district, the hotel fits right into the old timey feeling of the neighborhood. Enjoy being within walking distance of Segovias famous sights like the huge Cathedral, the many museums and the Jardines de la Plaza Reina Victoria Eugenia.
The rooms are quite big at Exe Casa de Los Linajes, with huge bathrooms as well. One thing we love about this hotel is theres a sitting area included in most of the rooms, with comfortable antique-style furniture perfect for sinking into after a long day of exploring.
Exe Casa de Los Linajes is a particularly great choice for guests who are mobile-challenged. Some of the rooms and facilities cater to people with disabilities, making for a stress-free stay in one of Spains most beautiful cities. The hotel also offers gluten-free breakfast option for guests who are specific about their dietary needs.

Winding narrow roads, shining streetlights, historical buildings and a vibrant atmosphere. This is what makes El Carme the place where to stay in Valencia. Many restaurants and bars add to the lively feeling you get there and although it buzzes with life, you can find some quiet streets to take a rest from all the hustle and bustle. To live in El Carmen feels very special the dreamy and romantic setting affects your mood straight away and you feel as if you are really on a holiday, away from all the everyday lifes struggles.

Hotel Spa La Casa Mudjar
Near: Plaza Mayor, Segovia Aqueduct
Price Range: $171 $435 per night
One of the most popular three-star hotels in Segovia, La Casa Mudéjar is set in an Old World building located on the districts main street. From here, youre right on the edge of the Jewish Quarter, within walking distance of some of the citys best attractions like the Alcazar, the aqueduct, and the cathedral.
The hotel has managed to keep some of the original buildings fixtures, and also houses its own art collection. You can easily spot several Greek sculptures proudly displayed in the common areas, which are perfect props for your vacation selfies.
While the rooms arent much to write home about as theyre on the smaller side and the decor could use some updating, what really stands out about this hotel are the extra amenities.
Theres so much to do at La Casa Mudéjar: dine on Castilian and Sephardic food at Fogón Sefardí Restaurant or Taberna del Fogón, or relax your muscles at the propertys in-house spa facilities in either the hot tub, sauna or Turkish bath. How nice does that sound?

Hotel Malcom And Barret
Near: City of Arts and Sciences and Estació del Nord Station

An excellent hotel choice in a quieter neighborhood, Hotel Malcom Barret offers guests a laid-back, chilled out stay. Its a little bit further out than many accommodation options in Valencia, with a 30-minute walk to Old Town, but that means youre not paying a premium to stay right in the center of the city and get a more local atmosphere as well.
That being said, the hotel is still surrounded by plenty of restaurants, bars, and fun things to do! And its only a five-minute drive to the City of Arts and Sciences.
Rooms here are simple, but stunning, with large beds completed with festive cushions, green drapes, thoughtful appliances , and botanical prints framed on the grey walls.

Where To Stay In Valencia Near The Beach Malvarrosa El Cabanal Las Arenas Beaches
Valencias location on the southern coast, where the Mediterranean Sea and Turia River meet, means that the city enjoys a warm climate all year round. With its wonderful Mediterranean weather, no visit would be complete without visiting one of its incredible beaches. Malvarrosa beach is great for activities with a wide promenade offering space for rollerblading, skateboarding and cycling. The wide sandy beach is great for families and features childrens play areas too. The El Cabanal beach is close to El Cabanyal, the old fishermans quarters. As a primarily residential area, it offers perhaps a more authentic taste of local Spanish culture. Las Arenas beach is best for those who want to stay near the beach, with plenty of hotels close by. It also is near to the LOceanografic Aquarium and the Ciudad de las Artes y las Ciencias, one of Valencias popular cultural complexes.

See Ruzafa Neighborhood At Night
When it gets dark, you can see how illuminated the city is, and it doesnt get more illuminated than the Ruzafa neighborhood. The two main streets famous for their light displays are Calle Cuba and Calle Sueca.
Every evening at 8 PM, a 5-minute light show takes place, and right after it, the entire neighborhood is illuminated. I recommend exploring the entire area to see the magical beauty of Ruzafa at night.
Where Not To Stay In Valencia

Valencia is definitely not a dangerous city and most of the neighborhoods are really safe there. The crime rate in Valencia is low and there arent many pickpockets in the city, so you shouldnt have troubles by going there.
Of course, if youre going out late at night and partying hard itd be better to take care as in every big city in the world. However, if you had to avoid only one place it would be Malva Rosa. This district had some troubles because of drug trafficking and its better not to spend too much time there.

Best Area To Stay In Valencia
We are thinking of going to Valencia in May/June for 2 weeks and are wondering where is the best part of the city to stay in?
Is there a main pedestrian area / square with restaurants and bars?
We have decided we’d rather stay in the city rather than near the beach.
Any help much appreciated.
If you want to stay in the city, stay near “Colon”
Another vote for the Colon area. It is close to everything and has a very nice feel about it.
Colon would be fine, central and near the shopping area and historic centre. Also well connected by metro to other parts of the city.
If you like it ‘chique’, stay near Mercado Colon. If you like the hippie Bohemian atmosphere, we could recommend BARRIO EL CARMEN, next to Plaza de la Virgen. The new york times did a great article on barrio del carmen:

AS Madrid and Barcelona become more expensive and crowded, intrepid travelers are rerouting to Spains third-largest city, Valencia, as a haven from the overly designed and trendy. The center of the laid-back refuge is in Barrio del Carmen, the slowly reviving ancient quarter with winding brick streets where young gypsies perform flamenco guitar solos and old men are glued to transistor radios.

El Museo Nacional De Ceramica
Another fine example of the flourishing and fancy rococo style is El Museo Nacional de Ceramica, the national museum of ceramics, porcelain, and decorative arts. Housed in a former rococo palace built in 1740, the museum focuses on period furniture, ceramics, paintings, and clothing in the traditional Valencian style. Note the lavish entrance to the palace, composed of alabaster figures with water flowing down from them, representing the two rivers of Valencia, the Turia and Jucar. On the second level, 19th-century ceramics, decorative panels, and mosaic tiles take center stage, along with a replica of an authentic Valencian kitchen. The museum has evolving, temporary exhibits.

Make A Reservation For Popular Restaurants
This advice is not directly connected to the festival itself, but it will help you if you want to enjoy the citys best restaurants.
Enjoying the local food is a big part of traveling, and when the official local dish is paella, youre in for a treat.
In order for you to enjoy the best of Valencia, its crucial to know that famous and popular restaurants like La Pepica or La Riua are packed during the festival.
So be sure to make a reservation in advance for such familiar restaurants for both lunch and dinner. Without a reservation, you might have to wait a VERY long time to get a table or not get in at all .
