Best example of a walled historic city you will ever find. Be aware it is very compact and you will quickly find yourself walking in the same areas time after time. Beautiful though!Loads of nice cafes, bars and restaurants, but the city lacks real soul, there’s only approx 700 residents.

  • Old Town, Dubrovnik

    9.6Exceptional163 reviews

Spent 3 nights here in August and honestly I cant fault the apartment. Very modern, very comfortable, very clean and in an excellent location. Literally right in the heart of the Dubrovnik old town and central to everything. Even having a coffee machine and pods provided was a really nice touch as I love a coffee in a morning. Shower was out of this world. Possibly the best shower Ive used in any apartment or hotel that Ive stayed in. Will definitely stay again returning to Dubrovnik

  • From £20 per night9.4Superb273 reviews

We had a wonderful stay at this place. The best criteria of this place is definitely the parking included, knowing how difficult is it to park in Dubrovnik. The apartment itself is very confortable, very spacious, with a small terrace and has all the necessities. It is also well located, youll still have to walk some distance to reach old town or the beaches but its worth the effort. The host were very nice to us, giving us some useful tips about the area, and very arranging.

    Cost Of Travel In Dubrovnik

The best way to reach Dubrovnik is by air and there are many budget airlines operating especially during peak season. You may also reach the city by sea, with ferries or cruise ships.

The cost of staying in the city can vary greatly, but it is not necessarily affordable. If you are budget traveler you should definitely consider accommodation a bit further from the old town. During summer accommodation prices peak, while spring and autumn offer probably the best deals.

Public transport in the city is served by buses. While their are reasonably priced, it is better to get an accommodation in which you dont have to rely frequently on them.

On average you will spend around 80 for food, accommodation, and local transportation per day. If you are a budget traveler the average cost is around 40 per day and per person.

Vis Island The Most Unique Place To Stay In Croatia

Vis is not the most off-the-beaten-path destination in Croatia, but of all the islands, it is one that fewer people spend the night on. Most folks just come to visit for the day and are on the last ferry back to Split before dinner time. Especially if you visit Vis in the winter, you will find a sleepy island with plenty to explore and few other travelers to share it with.

The best part about Vis is that it is small, yet big enough to merit a few days of hiking and exploring. There is limited public transport, so the best way to get around is either by renting a small scooter or by hitchhiking.

Check out the cave where the former leader of Yugoslavia, Josip Broz Tito hid out during World War 2. Visit the tiny stone chapel atop the barren Mt. Hum or relax on Stiniva Beach .

Vis still very much has its authentic Adriatic vibe and its residents even speak a different language than official Croatian. If drinking pricey cocktails, spending lots of money, and rubbing elbows with Russian yachties does not sound like your idea of a good time, skip the other islands and head to Vis.
