Perissa Where To Stay In Santorini For Nightlife
Perissas black lava sand beach is one of the islands greatest attractions, with visitors hailing it as one of the best places to stay in Santorini. Fot you to know, it is one of the best beaches in Santorini.
Located about 13 km from Fira, this southeastern coastal village resides at the south base of Mesa Vouno Mountain, where the ancient city of Elefsina is believed to have been located.
The village enjoys a steady nightlife and daily bustle, with multiple sights and activities for visitors of all ages and interests.
The aforementioned Perissa beach comes equipped with everything youll need for a day by the sea, including sun beds, umbrellas, beach bars, sports facilities, diving instruction, and on-duty lifeguards, as well as a playground and waterpark.
The beach joins with Perivolos, where additional restaurants, clubs, and shops can be found. The ruins of Ancient Thera are close by, with spectacular views of the Kamari and Perissa villages.
The Museum of Minerals and Fossils is a mainstay attraction in Perissa, where guests can view the vast collection of specimens from around the world, some dating back over 1.5 billions years.
The village and surrounding area is also home to some resplendent churches and chapels, with one of the largest churches on Santorini, the Church of the Holy Cross, located in Perissas central square.
At the foot of the Mesa Vouno Mountain are the remains of the Basilica of Agia Irini, which date back to the 5th century.

How To Get To Santorini
There are only two ways to get to Santorini: by boat or airplane.
There are ferries connecting Santorini to other Greek islands. The most common routes from / to are: Athens, Crete and Mykonos.
From and to Athens: the conventional ferry takes around from 6 to 8h and the high speed ferry takes between 4-5h. I recommend that you buy your ticket online in advance. You can check prices and timetable here.
By airplane: there is an international airport in Santorini that receives flights from Athens during the whole year, and international flights during the high season.
You can book your flights with Skyscanner, the website that I use and trust.
I highly recommend that you to hire a car while in Santorini!

Kamari Where To Stay In Santorini For Beach Lovers
Located in the southeastern region of Santorini, Kamari is a small village of only 1800 residents. The benefit to traveling in Santorini is that all some of the most beautiful places have a small population and thus are rarely overcrowded. The black sand on the beach of Kamari makes for a beautiful and unique beach experience, which is by far the main attraction of the village.
The crescent shaped Kamari beach is situated underneath the Mesa Vouno mountain and is typically lined with beach umbrellas and excited tourists. There is also a promenade that runs along the beach which features several beachside restaurants and shops geared towards tourists. If you want to relax on the beach in Santorini rather than climb all over a hillside town like Oia or Fira, you might prefer Kamari.
Where To Stay In Imerovigli
The award for the quietest town along the caldera is Imerovigli. With some distance from Fira, you won’t see large crowds of people and if you do, it’s mostly other tourists staying here or those doing the hiking trail from Fira to Oia.
There’s a reason it’s known as the balcony to the Aegean. Imerovigli is built on the highest points of the caldera cliffs, making it a very attractive place to stay in Santorini. The easiest way to identify the town is by the large Skaros rock that juts out into the sea.
Dotted along the cliff edge are white-painted villas that offer incredible sunset views. This is is very much a residential neighbourhood where you won’t find many restaurants, shops, or nightlife.
Why stay in Imerovigli?
When it comes to the best area to stay in Santorini, Imerovigli might be the most underrated but you soon realize it’s the best balance of views, location, and price. Consider this you can snag a caldera-view villa for under $200 USD/night.
The massive advantage that Imerovigli has is that it has unimpeded views outwards where you can clearly see Oia and the sunset right behind it while having clear lines of sight left and right.
While you could say that Oia has the best sunsets, but why Imerovigli is better is that it’s much more peaceful, and more central, and walkable to the Fira whereas Oia is quite isolated.
Disadvantages of the Imerovigli

Which Are The Best Towns To Stay In Santorini
Without a doubt, the two most spectacular and best towns to stay in Santorini are the main town of Fira and Oia. Both nestle on the cliff tops on the edge of the caldera on the western side of this beautiful crescent-shaped island and offer spectacular views over the waters of the caldera and the gorgeous sunsets.
Santorini is the southernmost island of the Greek Cyclades islands in the beautiful Aegean Sea. Santorini is a volcanic island, the result of a huge eruption in 1613BC which created the volcanic caldera a spectacular semi-circular crater with steep cliffs, topped by the snowy whitewashed buildings of Fira, Firostefani, Imerovigili and Oia. These are the best places to stay in Santorini because of their spectacular location.
There is a long winding path from Fira down to sea level, where you can catch a boat excursion to the small islands and sulphur springs. If you feel weary, you can take a donkey ride back to the top in time to enjoy the colourful nightlife!

Best Place For Nightlife
Santorinis nightlife is amazing in the summer months and the best place to enjoy it is Fira, the capital of the island.
Okthats an easy one.
If you really want to be as close as possible to all the nightlife of the island then you should stay at Fira.
Apart from Fira there is literally no serious nightlife elsewhere on the island.
Oia has literally no clubs or bars.
Its supposed to be a quiet place and rumour has it that Oias residents didnt want to ruin that with crazy club-goers or drunk tourists so they never let a big club or a bar to open in that area.
Fira has the best clubs and bars of the island and if you are looking into crazy nightlife then you should stay as close as possible to Fira. If you stay anywhere else than Fira, then coming back home early morning might be tricky as there might not be any buses you can take or not that many available taxis around.
I have to say though that if nightlife is the main purpose of your travel, then I would probably visit Mykonos as it is a place with much more options in clubs and bars.

Best Place For Seniors
Main famous towns in Santorini have hundreds of steps and you should better avoid them if you have mobility issues
If you are travelling with seniors or with people with difficulties in mobility in general, I would strongly advise to avoid the areas on the west side of the island such as Fira, Oia, Firostefani or Imerovigli.
There are literally thousands of stairs everywhere and its going to be a nightmare.
That doesnt mean that even those people cannot enjoy the magnificent famous views but living on those areas would make a terrible holiday, honestly.
However, if you do choose to stay at any of the west side areas please make sure that you inform your hotel in advance and let them know of your situation.
I am sure they will do their best to make sure you have a great and comfortable stay.

Where To Stay In Santorini For The Beach Perissa
Let me say first that Santorini is a magical destination, however, the beaches are not the highlight.
They are ok, but surely not the best in Greece.
We talked already about Kamari, which works perfect for a family trip.
A great alternative is Perissa, where you can find the beach party.
I still remember myself on my first trip in Santorini staying there in a semi-organised camping area. But that was a looong time ago
Is Fira or Perissa better for the nightlife?
Fira is better for clubbing but staying in Perissa has the great advantage that the morning after you can wake up and literally jump in the water.
You can always take a bus from Perissa to Fira for 2-3 euros and back by taxi late in the night .
The Tristhenia Hotel is a fantastic option in Perissa, close to the beach and with a pool too.
A great alternative is Villa Kalamia Dolphins, one of the best value for money in town.
