Best Places To Stay In Italy With Family

Norcenni Girasole Club Tuscany

11 Best Restaurants in Pickens, SC

This holiday park in Tuscany is ideal for families who love self-catering holidays with all the benefits of a resort. You really could rock up to your mobile home, chalet or glamping pitch and not leave the park again. Theres two swimming pool complexes and a water park, restaurants, a high ropes course, kids club and evening entertainment for all ages.

However, if you didnt find a few days to drag yourself away from Norcenni Girasole Club, it would be a travesty. Its within striking distance of several of Tuscanys greatest hits: Florence, Siena and Pisa. Theyre all within an hour and a halfs drive.

My kids have been to Italy several times and are always talking about going back. When asked which part they would like to revisit, its always Tuscany and this resort, she says.

Clare from Suitcases and Sandcastles recommends:

We Want The Place We Stay To Be Easily Accessible

We understand how much of a pain it is when you get to an airport after a certain number of hours flying, to then have to endure a long journey to get to the place youre staying. Particularly if youve got little ones. So, weve made sure to address this concern with our collection of villas from properties that are less than an hour from the airport, a huge majority of them within Europe so no lengthy flights – and transfers available to be booked through concierge, we want to make your family villa holiday as stress-free as possible. Weve also got a selection of villas with wheelchair access and lifts to ensure everyone is well-catered for.

Cinque Terre With Kids

Still one of my highlights of Italy, and I have lost count how many times I have walked the stunning coastline of the five villages which make up the Cinque Terre. Set up on the North West coast of Italy, these five beautiful little fishing villages are built up on the coast and are accessible on foot or by train. You can stay on the outskirts in either Levanto or Laspezia, but the real experience is staying in one of the villages themselves.

What to see and do: While travellers do come to see the five villages, the village hike is the main attraction. Depending on your fitness level, there are different trails, however the coastal trail is the most popular for families.

To complete the coastal walk it takes around 5-6 hours but the best part for those with young children is that you dont have to do it all by foot, you can take the train through to each village as well. It isnt the easiest of hikes, but young kids can easily walk half way and the train trip is all part of the fun too!

Local Tip: Buy your pass before you arrive, you can find more information about the Cinque Terre on the Parco Nationale website.

Final Thoughts On Where To Stay In Italy

Its no wonder that Italy is one of the most visited countries in the world! With centuries-old cities, one of the most famous culinary scenes in the world and endless natural beauty, there is a lot on offer in this Mediterranean dream. It is also home to great wineries, hip city centres and great examples of modern European culture.

We feel bad picking an overall favourite but Rome took our top spot because it truly has a little bit of everything on offer! It is also fairly central, so makes a good base for exploring other towns and cities on the mainland.

That being said, Italy is such a diverse country that we cant truly say where the best single place is for you wherever that may be depends on your own wishes. We hope this guide has helped you narrow down your options for your upcoming trip to this dazzling nation.
