I’ve never stayed in West Kelowna , but I have stayed both on Harvey Ave as well as motels along Lakeshore Drive a little bit south of downtown along Lake Okanagan. Personally I prefer Lakeshore because it’s quieter, although staying in downtown Kelowna somewhere along the lake would be relaxing – you wouldn’t need a car and you could walk to many restaurants.
Westbank used to be a distinct small community…now it is part of Kelowna sprawl. There are lots of chain restaurants…I wouldn’t recommend it.
Stay downtown…not sure what your budget is, but this is a good “resorty” hotel.
Eat at Raudz and Bouchons…
A more moderately priced downtown hotel option is the Abbott Villa on the Lake. It’s right across from City Park and the beach, and the waterfront boardwalk and downtown are just a short walk.
I agree with others, stay on the Kelowna side. Many restaurants within walking distants of most motels on Hwy 97 near Banks and Leckie Roads.
Looking at staying in West Kelowna a couple of nights for wineries but was also thinking of staying in Kelowna for one night. Have read that some parts are “not so good”. We would like to be within walking distance of nice restaurants and also good hotels. Any suggestions? Thanks
