The hotel and rooms are newer and modernized. The bed is comfy and the property has some hiking trails and activities you can do which is pretty cool! We saw a toucan from our bedroom window! Though I do think that it is very highly priced, and the restaurant as well. The food is good but not the best we had in Costa Rica and a little pricey in my opinion. The live music at night is a great touch, while you relax by the fireplace!

As A Photographer I Was Disappointed With The Amount Of

As a photographer I was disappointed with the amount of wildlife. I found far more on the beach around our hotel that up there. Would I go back..no for the cost I think there are other places with more to see. We sort of tagged along behind the official guide and quite honestly there was hardley anything to see. I was expecting frogs, birds and lots of flowers etc. I managed to take 50 images whereas if it had been what I was expecting I probably would have takien 10x more. Also to anyone going by car DO NOT take the 145 road, the condition is terrible and only a 4×4 can manage it, even then you will likely to do no more than 15mph at best. Do the 605/606 better road might be longer in distance but shorter in time.

An Overview Of Monteverde Hotels

Compared to a destination like La Fortuna, which offers a plethora of diverse accommodation options, Monteverde offers little variety in terms of lodging. Most hostels and hotels in Monteverde provide either a one- or two-story building or a small collection of cabins or villas. Natural wood outshines modern finishes and can be seen in accommodation decor and construction across the use of solid wood doors, wood-paneled walls, and handcrafted wood furniture. Because of the destinations cooler temperatures, hotel features that come standard elsewhere in Costa Rica, like air conditioning and an on-site pool, are harder to come by in Monteverde. The trade-off to Monteverdes modest hotels is affordable pricing. A bed in a hostel dorm can be obtained for $10/night. A clean, comfortable, and safe room averages $50-100/night. Several hotels in Monteverde recognize Costa Ricas high and low seasons and change their prices accordingly. , including when is the least expensive time to visit .

Getting To Monteverde Hotels

Getting to and staying in Monteverde isnt for everyone, but for a certain type of traveler, nothing beats it!

Roads are not the best side of Monteverde so we highly recommend using private transfers. Spending hours driving on rough roads isnt anybodys idea of a good vacation. Our drivers know the area well and will stop for a snapshot whenever you see fit. Meanwhile, you can sit back and relax, enjoying the views and your time with loved ones.

Nature is king here and it can show many unpleasant faces. It can be cold, cloudy, and wet. It is a cloud forest after all. However, if the thought of wearing a jacket doesnt bother you and the idea of looking down over the clouds intrigues you, youd like it here.

Santa Elena is the town nearest Monteverde. Its 4,600 feet above sea level. It offers basic services, souvenir shops, and a few restaurants. The best thing it offers is a number of living museums. There are specialized places to see frogs, snakes, butterflies, and hummingbirds.

Monteverde has a few restaurants scattered throughout the town. You should get the quiche at Stellas Bakery and the ravioli at Tramonti, an excellent Italian restaurant.
