The view of Munising bay is worth every penny, which was very moderately priced. Very clean and super friendly staff. They even have a fire pit if you’d like to make a campfire in the evening and a charcoal grill if you’d like to go into town and bring back your own steaks or burgers to cook. Outstanding! Wow Where Do We Start
WOW! Where do we start….We just happened upon this beautiful little town with so much to do and see. We loved everything about our stay, the hotels were very nice, clean, beautiful views, wonderful people and staff, great tour ride to Pictured Rocks, great food, just an all out wonderful time here. We actually returned on our way back thru the area… Will definitively go back now that we seen it. Actually, my wife started looking for property there to buy a cabin when we got home.

Is It Difficult To Book Hotels Near Pictured Rocks In The Summer
Be prepared if youre visiting the area in the summer, you need to book your accommodations as early as possible Pictured Rocks is very popular, and there are far more tourists than hotel rooms. I made this mistake and ended up in the literal middle of nowhere it offered quiet scenery, but it added way more driving than I bargained for.
When Is The Best Time To Visit Pictured Rocks
The summer and fall are ideal times to visit, but as I mentioned earlier, it is beautiful year-round If you dont love snow, skip the winter! The late spring does start to bring more consistent weather but be warned: Its not surprising for it to still frost in May! The lake temperatures also dont begin to warm until June/July .
So, the best time to visit Pictured Rocks depends on what you enjoy! If you want to hit the beach and kayak, visit in July or August. To enjoy mild temps and gorgeous fall colors, plan to head up in late September, and if youre a snow bunny, anytime from November February is your ideal time.

Munising is central location to sight-seeing in the Pictured Rocks area. Having visited previously, and this visit being a week long, I chose to bring the majority of my food and drinks with me to save on U.P. grocery prices. That said, there’s an IGA grocery store in town, Dollar General on the way in, Dollar Tree and Family Dollar. There are a reasonable number of eateries in town considering Munising is not very large. Don’t miss out on a Muldoon’s Pasty, they’re seriously thick, and delicious. Try some siracha on the side! There are plenty of souvenir shops, but if you’re looking for a rainy day trip, head to Marquette for sure, or even Da Yoopers Tourist Trap in Ishpeming. If you’re looking to hike , sight-see, take a boat tour, explore Grand Island, hunt for agates , enjoy the beaches of beautiful Lake Superior, or a day trip elsewhere in the U.P., Munising is a great choice. Make sure you take in at least one sunset from Sand Point Beach!! Flawless sand, gorgeous sunset!

We were only going to stay one night, but stayed two. VERY clean & affordable rate. The people running it were very friendly & went out of their way to accommodate us. Used to stay there for years when the previous owner had it and now will continue to stay there with the new owners. I highly recommend it to anyone visiting the Munising area.

Rooms are modest but comfortable and clean. It is located only 2 miles from downtown, has free wifi, staff is friendly, and all that for $50/night . I would definitely stay here again if I happen to be in the neighborhood.

We have been to Musising before, and we have never stayed anywhere in a motel, but when I saw they had cabins here i decided to book it. They are basic but new, and spotless. We even could take our small dog with us. It is 5 min out of town and nice and quiet. The only thing they could do better is the internet wasn’t working and the cabins need a bit of minor finishing but this is extreme value for money!

Things To Do In Munising
A highlight of staying in Munising is visiting Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, which is named after the multicoloured cliffs that dominate the landscape. Follow the hiking trail that leads to Twelvemile Beach and admire the unique sandstone formations of Chapel Rock and the Miners Castle. Be sure to admire the whitewashed tower of the Au Sable Light, which has watched over the coastline since 1874.
One of the main attractions within the Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore is Munising Falls, which tumbles 15 metres over a sandstone cliff in the west of the park. Visit the Munising Falls Visitor Center to learn about the natural and cultural history of the area, then stretch your legs on the hiking trail that leads to viewpoints surrounding falls. The waterfall is particularly special in the winter when it freezes to form an ice column.
Several shipwrecks litter the lake floor surrounding Munising and one of the best ways to see them is on board a glass-bottom boat tour. Learn about the history of shipping on Lake Superior as you gaze down at a pre-Civil War wooden sailing ship, then spot bald eagles soaring in the sky above from the deck.
