Where To Stay In Positano

Now that we covered the main advantages and disadvantages of staying in Positano, here are some specific recommendations on where to stay.

We only share hotel suggestions here, but there are also lots of privately-rented accommodations as well. Just pay attention to the location and accessibility so that you know exactly what to expect before you book!

No matter if you are traveling for the beach or for sightseeing, if you dont want to do lots of stairs, be sure to stay close to the main beach and the harbor. This is also the town center with lots of shops and restaurants.

On the other hand, if you dont mind the stairs, staying higher up the hill will often give nicer views, a more local atmosphere, and it will likely be quieter. Also, if you stay really high on the hill far from the center, you might find cheaper accommodations. Theres also a small local bus that has lots of stops along the main loop road, so you can always take a bus to limit the number of stairs.

Here are some of the best hotels in Positano center:

Covo Dei Saraceni .Buca Di Bacco or Hotel Marincanto .Hotel Savoia .

TIP: If you want to stay in Positano but are looking for more affordable options, you may also want to check airbnb-style apartments in the area. There are countless options, sometimes for lower budgets too. We stayed at this beautiful house with the most amazing views over Positano.

Where to Stay in Sorrento: The Best Hotels & Areas for Travellers in 2020

I wish I came for longer! After having trouble getting from Naples to Sorrento I was greeted with a beautiful, calm but bustling & vibrant part of Italy. I immediately went to the beach clubs and swam at Leonellis Beach which was 18 for a daybed but because I arrived 2 hours before close they reduced to 10. Caught a bus back up the steep, cobblestone hill to drinks and dinner at Bar Syrenuse which was wonderful & great prices.

Amalfi Best For Exploring The Amalfi Coast

At the heart of the Amalfi Coast, the town of Amalfi is an excellent base for exploring this beautiful region. Once a maritime power to rival Venice and Genoa, Amalfi is a bustling seaside town with a pretty beach front and many restaurants and cafes.

Thanks to its historic past, Amalfi has cultural treasures worth uncovering. The most impressive of these is hte cathedral, the towns focal point. We loved strolling along the medieval cobbled streets and secret passageways that lead you there.

Amalfi also has some of the best beaches on the Amalfi Coast. They are mainly stony but there are some sandy coves too. If they are too crowded, take the short walk to neighboring town Atrani with its laid back beach vibe.

As the mid way point along the coastline, you can take day trips from Amalfi by boat to Capri and along the coast. Local buses are easy to find at the main port. They will take you along the coastal road and up into the hills to visit the villas at Ravello.

There is a car rental agency in Amalfi if you want some more flexibility. More about driving the Amalfi Coast below.

Amalfi is a great place to stay if you enjoy mixing up your beach time with interesting day excursions along the coast and exploring historical and cultural sights.

The town is built into a cove and the surrounding hillside. Its streets are not as steep as those you find in Positano. So, if you are traveling with children or people who have limited mobility, Amalfi will suit your travel plans.

Priora Where To Stay In Sorrento On Budget

Our final destination of Priora lies to the southeast of Sorrento. It is a primarily residential town, located roughly a 20-minute walk from Sorrento, in the hills inland. The primary reason that most people will choose to stay in Priora is that it is affordable for those on a budget.

Due to being located away from the main tourist hubs and not containing many attractions of its own, hotel prices are significantly lower. You can find a cheap hotel or Airbnb here to suit almost any budget, making it a destination available to all.

This value then continues on everything like food, drink and essential products as well, as they are aimed more for the local population, so dont feature the price hikes common in more heavily tourist areas. Just because it is cheap doesnt mean Priora isnt without its own charms though.

The bars and restaurants are all filled with locals and serve local dishes, allowing you to get a truly authentic experience of the area. Local fishermen supply the restaurants daily, giving you the opportunity to sample some of the freshest seafood you will ever come across.

Fewer cars and pollution also allow you to take in some of the natural smells. With groves of olives and lemons, Sorrento is famous for surrounding the village, the smell of fruit is always in the air. Be sure to try its limoncello, the famous lemon liqueur.
