If youre visiting the Venetian with kids then you really must take a gondola ride down the Grand Canal. This takes you all around the hotel and even outside to the front whilst your gondolier serenades you with their favourite Italian songs. Older kids can even take part in the Gondolier university where theyll get to learn how to sail their own.

In a town where hotels come and go quickly, Caesars Palace has managed to stick around for more than 50 years. Credit the classic Roman theme, which never goes out of style. The on-site restaurants are incredible, from the French fine dining of Restaurant Guy Savoy to the casual Italian of Raos. Even the food court is impressive, featuring an eclectic collection of casual dining spots from across the country. The Colosseum is a recently renovated mid-size concert hall that includes Rod Stewart, Mariah Carey and Jerry Seinfeld among its resident headliners. The Garden of the Gods swimming complex is one of the best spots to catch some rays or take a dip on the Strip. The Venus pool was once adults-only with the option for women to go topless, but is now all ages.
Where To Eat In Las Vegas With Kids
Lets start with the food. Las Vegas has no shortage of world-class restaurants, but it’s best to hold off on the refined dinner reservations at Mr. Chow or Joël Robuchonmany of the city’s fine-dining spots dont allow small kids in the first place. But parents need not settle for the purgatory of the fast-casual chain restaurant: At Black Tap inside The Venetian, my girls munched on fried mozzarella and a bison burger while their dad and I split smoky barbecued wings and a wagyu patty with truffle-yuzu vinaigrette we all then watched in awe as the shake artists at Crazy Shakes prepared a milkshake topped with an entire piece of cake.
Las Vegas buffets are heaven for the picky pint-sized eater, and the largest among them, Bacchanal Buffet at Caesars Palace, has sliders, wagon-wheel mac n cheese, and red velvet pancakes for the kiddosplus duck carnitas, fresh seafood, and dim sum for the adults. At the charming bistro Mon Ami Gabi inside Paris Las Vegas, my enfants were not left out of the elegance: They were greeted with crayons and a French word-search game, then served their dishes on special kids’ plates.

In the old days, the casinos along Las Vegass legendary Strip were cut-throat rivals. Each stood a long way back from the road, and was a dark, low-ceilinged labyrinth, in which it was all but impossible to find an exit. During the 1980s, however, visitors started to explore the Strip on foot. Mogul Steve Wynn cashed in by placing a flame-spouting volcano outside his new Mirage. As the casinos competed to lure in pedestrians, they filled in those daunting distances from the side walk and between each casino and the next.
With Las Vegas booming in the 1990s, gaming corporations bought up first individual casinos, and then each other. The Strip today is dominated by just two colossal conglomerates, MGM Resorts and Caesars Entertainment. Each owns a string of neighbouring casinos. Once you own the casino next door, theres no reason to make each a virtual prison. The Strip has therefore opened out, so that much of its central portion now consists of pedestrian-friendly open-air terraces and pavilions housing bars and restaurants.
