Where To Stay In Zurich In March
One such activity that goes perfectly with the spring season is exploring the famous Lake Zurich. While always beautiful, getting to witness it as the seasons are changing and when there are minimal tourists around makes for a vastly different experience.
Whether you want to take a boat trip out across the water or simply walk around its stunning shores, there probably isnt a better time to do so.
As for where to stay to achieve this goal, the lakes eastern shore in Riesbach provides some of the best options for both boat tours for exploring, as well as bars and restaurants to take in the views.

Fill Up At The Many Fountains

One of the most fascinating things about visiting Zurich is to keep an eye out for the 1200 ornate fountains scattered throughout the city. These arent your average drinking fountains, the fountains of Zurich are works of art. Youll see children playing in the fountains, runners stopping for a quick slurp, and many people filling up their water bottles. Youll never go thirsty in Zurich, as the water running from the fountains is clean and fresh and just waiting for you to have a taste. Some Zurich fountains are simply beautiful so while you are filling your bottle, make sure to enjoy the details of the artists work.

Drive Pedalo At The Zurich Lake
Visiting the Zurich Lake, in german called Zürichsee, is a very good idea if you want to enjoy some water sports or the amazing view. There are many boat rentals where you can rent for example a pedalo boat. Depending on the place you rent them, they sometimes even come with lights, in case you want to enjoy this romantic Lake Zurich experience during sunset. And the cool thing is I like most, that you can take a swim during your pedalo adventure.
Keep in mind that a previous booking is required mostly , since this activity has normally a high demand.
When you explore Lake Zurich with a pedalo, you are rewarded with views. Its an activity I dont do every day but I always enjoy doing it. And it also makes everyday life or exploring the city more diversified.
Please note that there are many ships on Lake Zurich, including large cruise ships. Therefore, it is important to always drive and observe the situation carefully. Prices are starting from around 30CHF/h.

Take The Train To Uetliberg
Our next huge surprise was making our way up to the best lookout over Zurich. Using our Zurich card, we boarded a bus and then a tram and finally a train up to the top of Zurichs very own mountain, Uetliberg. When you reach the end of the line, it is about a 10-minute walk to the lookout tower for amazing views of Zurich, Lake Zurich, and the Swiss Alps.
After you have taken in the views of the rolling hills and the city below, you can have lunch at the restaurant or continue hiking for about 2 hours to the gondola that will take you back down. If you have some time, this makes for a great half-day tour in Zurich. To climb the tower it costs 2 CHF and it is completely worth the cost.

Relax And Take A Swim At Letten

Want to sunbathe or take a leisurely swim in the city? Then the Letten near Zurich main station is your place! Here the dolce vita takes place in summer, and its a see and be seen.
Letten is widely known for being a place where you can unwind and relax. You can have a swim during the summer if you want, or you can just enjoy some sunbathing. There are no entry costs at all.
There is the Obere and Untere Letten, means there are in total two different areas where you can and relax and swim. My favorite is the Obere Letten as here you also have a bar and the space is more open compared to the Untere Letten.
In both Letten you will find lockers, a changing room and so on. Its a great way to see a different flair of Zurich and a great place to explore.
Important: Be aware that the river flows into a power plant, so go out early enough to keep yourself safe and follow the instructions you will find there. If you stick to it, you should be safe. Thousands of people go swimming here every year, me included.

Zrichs Best Luxury Hotels
- The Baur au Lac is one of Europes great grande dame hotels, founded in 1844, when it was converted from a 10th century palace in an enviable lakeside position, surrounded by gardens. Still family owned today, this is a special place to stay. The 102 rooms and suites are elegant not gaudy, with the occasional flash of boldness in a vintage black-and-white photograph. And theres a superb rooftop spa and three restaurants, one of them a summer terrace affair, and one with a Michelin star.
- Atlantis by Giardino is a sort of urban retreat, just a short distance outside the built-up part of town and surrounded by rural views, but still close enough for seeing the sights. The Atlantis was built in the 70s, and has the pared back, minimal elegance of that period, but with a more contemporary colour palette. Each of the 95 rooms and suites has a wonderful view, and theres a legendary bar and a choice of two restaurants.
- Eight medieval townhouses in a wonderful Old Town location on the banks of the Limmat, have been joined together to create the cutting edge designed Widder Hotel. Here youll find five stars worth of ultra modern cool, arranged into 49 individually designed and decorated rooms and suites, and a world-class jazz-fuelled bar. Expect excellent service and food, for this hotel politely yells comfort and style.

They contain more than 8,000 plant species at indoor and outdoor displays.
The gardens main identifier is the group of three dome-shaped greenhouses from the 1970s.
Each of these has different climatic conditions: The largest contains tropical species, while the smaller two house subtropical and savannah plants.
Outside is an arboretum, Mediterranean garden and historically themed gardens growing plants for dyeing and medicine.

Langstrasse Best Neighbourhood In Zurich For Nightlife

Langstrasse wasnt always the lively, creative haven it is today. Historically, Langstrasse was the red-light district of Kries , and it wasnt common to see the average tourist there after dark.
Now, the area oozes with fun, entertainment and heart-pounding thrill at the many forms of nightlife to explore. From clubs hosting world-renown DJs to upscale cocktail lounges to rough-and-tumble sports pubs, theres a little something for every adult looking for a fun time.
Though its called the district that never sleeps, Langstrasse isnt all drinking and partying. Nestled between the upscale Bahnhofstrasse and the cobbled streets of Altstadt, Langstrasse is a rare gem to explore.
As the epicenter of cultural revolution, Langstrasse has also seen an influx of culinary experimentation and vintage shops in the past decade, mainly due to young designers and chefs making the area a prime destination.
Check out Gamper for vegetable-forward food and delicious meats or Schwarzes Schaf Bistrolino & Bar for hearty pub food. Great international options abound for adventurous eaters as well.
To get in a little walking, check out Kasernenareal, the towns square. Here, youll catch annual circuses, concerts and live music performances for crowds to enjoy at any given time of the year.
As this area is known for its party scene, there arent as many kid-friendly activities as other areas on this list. And, if youre looking for peace and quiet, Langstrasse may not be your best bet.
