Hiking Around Cortina Dampezzo

Croda Da Lago

The Croda Da Lago Circuit is my favourite hike near Cortina. It comes to life in October in particular when the larches turn the trail into a golden paradise. The highlight of the trail is a beautiful high alpine lake called Lago Federa. A great alternative to the much busier Lake Sorapiss trail!

Cinque Torri

If youre a keen historian or just find The Great War interesting then the hike around Cinque Torri is for you. Its not difficult and offers a great chance to see these 5 monoliths from all angles all whilst exploring WW1 bunkers and trenches.

Lago Sorapiss

This is the classic hike around Cortina. The route to Lago Sorapiss includes forests, cliffs, cables, stairs and one huge mountain reflection at the end. As mentioned previously , its a busy hike but with all the different sections, its continually refreshing.

For a rustic-style hotel with spa facilities in Corvara in Badia, Hotel Arlara is another excellent choice. Boasting a panoramic swimming pool, Turkish bath and sauna, you can relax while taking in the mountain views.

Hotel Arlara, Str. Arlara, 28

My personal spa hotel choice in Corvara in Badia is Hotel La Perla. It has a covered pool, beautiful rooms, first-class service and hosts one of the most prestigious cantinas in Italy.

If you love Sassicaia wine, the cantina at Hotel La Perla has an entire room dedicated to it.

The Standard Of Hotels In The Dolomites Is A+

The range of Dolomites hotels is huge, from mountain chalets and traditional alpine guesthouses right through to extravagant 5* luxury stays like Hotel Miramonti .

While the range of options is large, the quality of hotels and guesthouses in the Dolomites is some of the best anywhere in the world.

Hospitality and comfort is highly valued here – so dont expect a run down, uncomfortable room, even at 3*.

Do You Need A Car In The Dolomites

Ill be real. It is technically possible to see the Dolomites without a car, but you will not get the most of your time without the car. Simply because you need to drive to trailheads, be at certain spots for sunsets, and be free to explore everything. Doing it all with public transportation exclusively will be frustrating, time-consuming, and frankly not worth it.

If youre not bringing your own car rent a car in Italy.
