Historic Downtown Was Very Well Maintained

Historic Downtown was very well maintained. The layout made for ease of walking. The trolley tour guides were knowledgeable and a little entertaining, making it more interesting. Littner Museum a must. Annual Night of Lights was well worth it. Crowds handled efficiently. The Castile de San Marco was by far our favorite. Information well presented for all ages. There was a special booklet for the kids to reinforce their experience. We did the self guided and learned a lot. Ate at Mojo, a BBQ place in downtown. Beef brisket was tender and tasty. The coleslaw was the best weve had. Borrillos Pizza in Uptown was excellent-if we lived there it would be our Friday night pizza place. The Scoop Ice Cream was very good. Rustic. Staff personable.

One Of Our Favorite Destinations In Florida

Ponce de Leon Hotel

One of our favorite destinations in Florida. The history is of great interest and the historic area has many places for food, drink and live music. There are some Galleries in the area featuring well known and local artists. Local merchant shops have varied offerings. It is my hope that the historic district continues to support small businesses and does not allow corporate conglomerates to step in and take over. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES! The people in this town are friendly and many have a very long family history with St Augustine. Conversations with them has always been very enjoyable, entertaining and educational. If staying in the Historic Downtown area, try a bike ride over the Bridge of Lions to the St Augustine Beach Pier for Sunrise. It is a very peaceful beautiful experience! There are great places nearby the pier for coffee or breakfast. If the trek is too much for some, catch a sunrise along the seawall near the Castillo de San Marcos. It is a great way to start the day.

How Do We Order Hotels? How Do We Define Motel?motelshotels

  • Beware of non-refundable reservations that could cost you a lot of money if you change or cancel them. Non-refundable reservations are a gamble that will usually save you less than $10. If you make a $90 non-refundable reservation instead of a $100 refundable booking, you are betting $90 to win $10. Would you do that in Las Vegas?
  • Don’t assume you can cancel a non-refundable reservation without penalty if you notify the hotel weeks or even months in advance. Often you cannot because some hotels’ profit strategy is to get paid more than once for the same room for the same night.
  • Always read cancellation policies carefully before you make a reservation. When is the latest date and time you can cancel without penalty?
