Halifax Canada To Boston Ma Usa Road Trip Cheap Stay
Boston, MA, USA in mid April.
Thinking to explore the places which comes on the way stay around at night and next day reach to Boston.
We can stay for one night around Maine or any other place near US / Canada border.
Shall we be able to find cheap motel to stay around or I should prebook accommodation for onward journey.
Which would be good spots to visit during onward journey ?
If you are asking about a place to stay in Maine, on your trip to Boston, you should post on the Maine board for their help.
What time of year are you making this trip?
Are you driving your own car or renting one? If renting, have you already booked it? Will you be driving back to Canada. Sometimes it is very expensive to pick up a rental car in Canada and drop it off in the USA.
You should have no problem winging it sans reservations in Mid-April. Especially non-weekend nights.
Not sure I understand the plan but with an 11ish hour drive you don’t have much time to ‘explore’ if you only plan to stay one night.
Boston will be impossible to stay in or near from 4/11 to 4/16 or so, due to the marathon, so I hope that is not when you are coming to here
Edited: 3 years ago
yes. I was definitely only talking about on the way with regard to winging it without reservations.
Stopping near Bangor would be the logical option for the drive, although no guarantee of ‘cheap’ lodging, depending on the OP’s definition.
On the way south from Bangor, you could stop at Freeport , or the south coast of

What Is The Cheapest Way To Get From Logan Airport To Boston

When it comes to the cheapest method to get from Logan Airport to downtown Boston, you can’t beat free. The Silver Line of the bus system, or SL1, picks up from all terminals of the airport and brings passengers directly to South Station in central Boston. The ride is free for trips that start in Logan Airport, but if you’re heading from the city center to the airport you’ll need to pay the standard bus fare .
And just because it’s free doesn’t mean it’s slow. The Silver Line is also one of the fastest ways to get to the city center, as the ride only takes about 20 to 30 minutes depending on traffic. If you need to get to other parts of Bostonsuch as Harvard in Cambridgeyou can transfer to the Red Line of the subway at South Station for free as well. For travel from the airport, the Silver Line is a nearly unbeatable option.

Where To Stay In Boston On A Budget
Are you looking for an inexpensive, cheap hotels in Boston? You are not alone.
According to a new study by GoEuro, Boston is the 6th most expensive city in the world for accommodations and the most expensive city in the world for AirBnB bookings. Ouch.
However, just because hotel rates in Boston can be expensive, doesnt mean you cant find an inexpensive hotel in Boston without sacrificing quality.
First off, Boston Hotel prices can vary A LOT depending on your dates and what is happening in the city. Generally speaking, you will get the best hotel rates in the winter months, but not always. The more flexibility you have with dates, the better rates you may find. .
Also, Boston is a walking city and you may be surprised how close attractions are together. If you do visit Boston, please do not rent a car. Parking is expensive and there are a lot of one-way streets which can make driving in Boston difficult. The MBTA is a great way to get around the city as well as walking.

Best Boston Neighborhood For A Small Town Feel: Brookline
If you enjoy small cities or suburbs more than big cities, Brookline is the perfect place for you to stay in Boston. Brookline is technically a different city than Boston, but its surrounded by Boston on nearly all sides, making it feel like its part of the city. Brookline is more of a residential area than a destination for tourists, and accommodation in Brookline can often be cheaper than what youd pay for a similar hotel in downtown Boston.
Coolidge Corner is one of the best parts of Brookline, home to beloved independent businesses like the Coolidge Corner Theater, Brookline Booksmith, Eureka Puzzles, and When Pigs Fly Bakery. Brookline is also home to a big Jewish community, so if you keep kosher, this is a good place to base. And if you love to take walks, Brookline has lots of curvy streets filled with large, beautiful homes.
Brookline is close to many of Bostons top hospitals, and many people visiting Boston for long-term medical care stay in this neighborhood.
Brookline has student-heavy neighborhoods Allston and Brighton to the north, Fenway to the east, Newton to the west, and Jamaica Plain and West Roxbury to the south. Get here on the B, C, or D green lines. The C line goes to Coolidge Corner.

Best Boston Neighborhood Overall: Back Bay
If you can stay in any neighborhood in Boston, my top recommendation is Back Bay. This neighborhood is pretty much the dead center of Boston youre never far from anything. It also has some of the best hotels.
Back Bay is home to some of the priciest real estate in town, as well as some of the best shopping. And youre steps from Bostons top tourist attractions, like the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, and the Boston Public Garden, as well as the Boston Marathon finish line at Copley Square.
Newbury Street is home to luxury shops and indie boutiques as well as plenty of sidewalk cafes. On a warm day in Boston, this is one of the best places to dine outside. One of my favorite streets in Boston is Back Bays Marlborough Street, filled with beautiful brownstones . And if youre set on shopping, Boylston Street, the shops at the Prudential, and Copley Plaza are home to all the big brands.
To the north of Back Bay is the Esplanade, where you can run, picnic, or catch a summer concert at the Hatchshell. And youre still within walking distance of the Theatre District, Boston Common and the State House, the restaurants and bars of Tremont Street, and the art museums of Fenway.
The neighborhood of Back Bay borders the South End, Fenway, the Theatre District, and the Public Garden with easy access to Beacon Hill. The green line has several stops here and the 1 bus gives you the fastest way to Cambridge.
When Is The Best Time To Travel To Boston
Logan Airport is less than 5 miles from the city center, so traveling between them is always relatively simple and shouldn’t be more than 15 minutes by car. If you happen to be commuting during weekday rush hour in the morning or evening, it can take up to 30 minutes. If using public transit, the Silver Line bus doesn’t run between 1:30 a.m. and 5:30 a.m., so be sure to make other arrangements for a late-night arrival.
For the best weather, head to Boston between June and October. The summer months are especially busy, but the city is alive with outdoor concerts, Red Sox games, and enjoying drinks on outdoor patios. Fall is also a popular time to visit and can be very crowded, but the autumn colors and the changing trees are a worthwhile experience. Winter in Boston can brutally cold, so pack lots of layers and warms clothes if visiting during this time. If you’re visiting in spring, the weather is starting to warm up and the summer crowds have yet to arrive, and you may even be able to catch Patriots’ Day celebrations and the famous Boston Marathon if you plan your trip right.

Best Boston Neighborhood For Foodies: The South End
Theres no ambiguity on this one everyone agrees that the South End is the best foodie neighborhood in all of Boston. Located just south of Back Bay, this is one of Bostons best residential neighborhoods with beautiful brownstones, boutique hotels, quirky shops you wont find anywhere else, a thriving LGBT community, and the best restaurants in the city.
One of the pleasures of staying in the South End is feeling like a local. There arent many obvious tourist destinations here, so most tourists dont even step within its borders. Its a good choice if you want to feel like youre a Bostonian.
If youre a foodie in the least, be sure to visit at least one of Ken Oringers restaurants. The man IS Boston fine dining. Two of my favorites of his are in the South End: Coppa, an Italian wine bar with a crazy selection of unusual meats, and Toro, a Spanish tapas restaurant with the best corn in existence .
Other standout South End restaurants include B& G Oysters, Picco, Tremont 647, Myers and Chang, and the South End Buttery. Washington Street and Tremont Street each have several. My favorite only-locals-know-about-this-place restaurant is the Franklin Cafe.
The South End borders Back Bay, the Theatre District, and Roxbury, with a highway running along the bottom of it. Get here via the orange line or silver line .
Best Neighborhood For History: North End
The North End neighborhood is Bostons oldest and is commonly referred to as Little Italy, since its where all the Italian immigrants in the 19th century settled . This waterfront community has cobblestone streets and plenty of good reasons to visit, including the Paul Revere House and Christ Church .
Best Places to Stay in the North End
- MID-RANGE: Battery Wharf Hotel This place isnt exactly budget, but the North End doesnt really do budget. The rooms come with large TVs, free Wi-Fi, and impressively comfortable beds. The Aragosta Bar and Bistro serves a fantastic Italian breakfast, and the lobby lounge does cocktails and candy . Even better: the spa is top-notch.
- LUXURY: Boston Yacht Haven If you want a room with a view, this is it. The Boston Yacht Haven is right on the water, and it even has its own marina . The rooms are crazy posh, and if you can, request one with a harbor view and balcony. Theres free breakfast other perks include free Wi-Fi, board games, and an in-room microwave and fridge.

Best Boutique Hotel In Boston: The Liberty Hotel
Without a doubt the most interesting hotel in Boston is The Liberty Hotel. Why? Its the former Charles Street Jail and theyll never let you forget it! Everything here has a jail theme, from the hotel rooms that were once cells to the open lobby that was once the jails gymnasium. The rugs are covered with patterns of skeleton keys and pocket watches. And the bars and restaurants have witty names CLINK serves up delicious American fare while Alibi serves up cocktails and is covered with giant framed celebrity mug shots.
The Liberty is always buzzing few hotels in Boston are able to match the scene on a Friday night. Come here and youll meet interesting people. If you like having a hotel close to the nightlife, you cant get much closer than this. And hotel guests get extra privileges like getting to have food and drinks from Catwalk, the jails original catwalk, which now overlooks the lobby scene.
The Liberty is technically located in Bostons blink-and-youll-miss-it West End neighborhood, right by the Charles MGH red line stop. Walk across the street to enjoy the small-town feel of Beacon Hill, one of the citys most charming neighborhoods, and enjoy the stroll down Charles Street to the Public Garden.
