Maya Beach Hotel And Bistro
This is our favorite spot in the entire area: Maya Beach Hotel and Bistro. It is a small 4-star resort with a lovely staff, a nice beach, comfortable pool, and most of all, excellent restaurant. We ate here for our wedding dinner, as well as two other meals. The chef puts together a creative menu with incredible specials.
Plus, as of early 2019, you can use the pool if youre eating at the restaurant. The chairs are given to hotel guests as a priority, but they were not all used when we went during peak season. It is located about 8 miles north of the village

Where To Stay In Belize
The only country in Central America without a bordering Pacific Ocean coastline , Belize is an eclectic mix of Central American ethnicity and Caribbean lifestyle. Characterized by lush green rainforests, stunning flora and fauna , serene islands, and archaeological marvels, the country has been welcoming more and more tourists and cruisers each year.
With some of the worlds best snorkeling and scuba diving opportunities, Belize is home to the second-largest barrier reef the Great Blue Hole. Formerly known as British Honduras, Belize is the only country in the region with English as its official language. Once home to at least one million Mayans, the country is blessed with several titillating Mayan ruins and structures.
Let us now explore some of the popular neighborhoods in the country so you can decide where to stay in Belize during your visit.

Ramons Village Resort Ambergris Caye
Polynesia may lie a world away from the Caribbean but thats the theme the designers behind Ramons have gone with. Yet, despite the Tahitian flavour, many of the resorts appealing characteristics are shared around Belize: thatched-roof bungalows, easy access to sumptuous white-sand beaches, expert-led scuba dives organised on site. Located a 10-minute walk from Ambergris Cayes main town of San Pedro, if you fancy something a little stronger than the fresh-pressed juices and smoothies from their bar, the party isnt far away.
San Ignacio Best Neighbourhood In Belize For Families
San Ignacio is a small town in the Cayo district of Belize close to the Guatemalan border. It is famous for its proximity to renowned Mayan ruins and it is a hub for outdoor activities and adventures. Thanks to its central location, it is an excellent base for taking day trips and exploring various parts of the country.
This is also my top pick for families that want to visit Belize. It boasts a rich and interesting history and a diverse blend of backgrounds, making it one of the most unique parts of the country. Here you can enjoy a variety of foods, cultural activities, and all-ages outdoor adventures.
Staying in San Ignacio means adventure, relaxation and an enjoyable holiday but only if you book the right accommodation. Your place can be the make or break of your trip, so choose wisely. Since its a very peaceful area, its incredibly suited for families.
Hostels and Hotels often dont have rooms that can accommodate more than 4 people at a time, so if youre travelling with your family, renting a whole Airbnb apartment might be the smartest option.

Best Airbnb In San Ignacio: Traditional Cottage With A Latin Twist
What better way to explore the Megaliths, the jungle, and the rich culture than from your own authentic colonial villa. Carefully decorated with local curiosities, and loving maintained through the years, this property is a steal for the price, and boasts ample room to accommodate the entire family.
Blancaneaux Lodge Cayo District
Given the hellish situations endured in the jungle by his characters in Apocalypse Now, itd be understandable if you paused before booking Francis Ford Coppolas forest retreat. Theres perhaps reassurance in knowing that the great director has a place of his own up here, far from Belizes famous coastline. The Italian restaurant on site is better than it has any right to be, as is its Waterfall Spa, which you might need if youve driven the bumpy road up here. Good news for those with means: the resort also has its own airstrip.

Where To Stay In Placencia
Similar to Hopkins Village, Placencia is a great place to stay in Belize for beach and jungle vacations. Here travelers have the option of staying in town at one of the luxury resorts, several with their own dive centers onsite, or venturing to remote private islands such as Coral Caye, which is owned and operated by Francis Ford Coppolas Turtle Inn.
Despite the trend of more luxury accommodations, Placencia is still home to a number of budget-friendly spots such as Miramar Apartments or Harrys Cozy Cabanas. However, to save money on food, families often prefer renting one of the many upscale vacation villas with kitchens or all-inclusive packages.
Where To Stay Offshore
Belize has its fair share of private island resorts, but the larger islands also offer accommodations honeymooners, families, and friend groups keep returning to time and again. Many of these destinations share pure beaches, swaying palm trees, and an affinity for luxury. Hop on a golf cart at Caye Caulker to explore the entire 6 miles the island offers, or spend the day snorkeling off a tiny Caye somewhere in the middle of the Caribbean Sea.

Where Is The Safest Place To Stay In Belize
While you have many areas to choose from when finding a place to stay in Belize, some may feel safer than others.
In general, big, touristy cities in Belize are safe, but pickpocketing or opportunistic crimes can still happen so you’ll need to be careful.
The Caribbean coast is the most popular area of Belize among tourists, which means that many of those areas will be safer during your travels. Areas such as Corozal, Caye Caulker, and San Pedro are safer places to choose in Belize. These places will allow you to be surrounded by other tourists if that is something you look for while traveling. But of course, you should still be mindful of your belongings!
