50 Fun Things to do in Las Vegas – Vegas Vacation Travel Guide

KISS by Monster Mini Golf is a mini golf course with a difference: its all themed on the iconic hair metal band, um, Kiss. Its crazy, just crazy enough for this over-the-top city, but pretty fun, making for a more unusual thing to do in Las Vegas.

You can expect white make-up and red tongues galore, amidst a mix of black and fluorescent paint and details that make up this very eccentric mini golf course. Its a tribute to the band themselves: think a giant Gene Simmons head as one of the holes . Open from 10am to midnight. Recommended for Kiss fans, golf fans or drunk people.

Top 5 Adventure Attractions in Las Vegas

A location away from the Strip, downtown or airport, but easily accessible by car or public transport here it is, Westgate Las Vegas Resort & Casino. This hotel is a great option if you wish to stay away from the nightlife or hustle bustle of the Strip or Fremont.

The area although away from the Strip is accessible as the monorail is located close by. The airport is 3.5 miles away so conveniently located.

Although the location is different from the rest of the recommendations, you will still find casinos inside the resort complex. And hence a resort fee of $38 USD still applies here.

My personal opinion is that, if I am visiting Vegas I would rather stay at the Strip or at the Fremont Street/downtown area. We dont gamble, but we love the nightlife and the carefree vibes that Vegas offers. Tons of free entertainment and people watching , food options make these 2 areas the best options for the first visit to Las Vegas.

Butbut, if on your first visit, you are feeling overwhelmed with people being too pushy or selling special services, then this hotel room can be an oasis from all the crazy. You cannot do away with the lounges or casinos though, even at this property.

Day 3 Authentic Vegas

First of all, youll be hungry. That calls for a diner thats right, were going full Americana. Make a very hungry beeline for Vickies Diner set on the Strip, this 24/7 spot is an old-school soda fountain where breakfast is served all day. When youre fully satisfied with the amount youve eaten, its just a 7 minute drive north along the Strip to the Mob Museum.

Here is where you can learn all about the gangsters who practically controlled the city back in the day. After you feel educated enough, head to the Arts District. Take A Trip To The Seven Magic Mountains

Nope, this isnt an outdoors activity: Seven Magic Mountains is actually more like, well, an Instagram hotspot. This desert-based art installation consists of seven totem-like poles of rock arranged in stacks and coloured for a rainbow-like result. It creates a pretty cool colour pop in the middle of the scrubland of the Ivanpah Valley.

Sort of a cross between giant Play Doh sculptures and misshapen, outsized Lego figures, the Seven Magic Mountains does still require you to get out of the city and into the desert surroundings. Its only a 40-minute drive from the centre of town, making for a pretty simple but very cool thing to do in Las Vegas. Best Hotel Rooms & Suites in Vegas Any Budget!

From Gwen Kleist of California Family Travel

Did you know the Mob pretty much founded Las Vegas?

The city took off as a settlement when the Hoover Dam was being built from 1931 and the Mob built casinos and theaters to entertain the young men working on its construction.

So a visit to the Mob Museum is a history lesson, with a twist!

If youre looking for fun things to do in Las Vegas, head downtown. The Mob Museum provides an authentic look at organized crime from its roots in the late 1800s through today.

Officially named the National Museum of Organized Crime and Law Enforcement, the Mob Museum traces the history of the mob through artifacts, photos, video, and interactive exhibits that explore organized crime, as well as how law enforcement works to stop them.

The museum opened on February 14, 2012 the 83rd anniversary of the notorious St Valentines Day Massacre in Chicago, and is housed in the former Las Vegas Post Office and Courthouse, which was built in 1933.

This locale gives it an authentic old, gangster feel. In fact, the centerpiece of the Mob Museum is its second-floor courtroom, which was the actual location of mob hearings in the 1950s.

A trip down to the basement of the Mob Museum is a trip back in time to the Prohibition era, when thousands of speakeasies were operating in the shadows.

The exhibit features a collection of artifacts and stories from the Roaring 20s including the history of bootlegging and rum running.
