Honolulu Hawaii Destination Guide
Its beachside skyscrapers may have earned Hawaiis capital the nickname, The Big Pineapple, but visitors usually just call it paradise. Honolulu has the best of both worlds, from palm tree-fringed beaches to world-class restaurants and bars all within minutes of each other. Here are some of journalist Katie Lockharts favorite things to eat and do in Honolulu.
Directly across from Waikiki Beach, each of ESPACIOs nine elegant suites take up an entire floor. The 2,250 square-foot, multi-bedroom beachfront apartments have light woods, airy spaces and colorful French marble that match the gem-themed name of each suite. Here youll have everything you need and more, including a chefs kitchen, a Japanese-style bathroom, a sauna and an outdoor hot tub to watch the surfers and, later, the stars.
Quirky and cool, this boutique hotel channels 1960s Honolulu with its retro-chic design. Inspired by North Shore bungalows, Surfjacks 112 rooms and suites have reed ceilings, vintage upholstery, cheeky local artwork and statement-tiled bathrooms to wash the sand off after a short stroll from the beach.
A local favorite for more than 30 years, Side Street Inn brings Hawaiian comfort food to the hungry masses. In true Aloha spirit, its whopping family-sized plates are designed for sharing. So come hungry and order the spicy mayo Ahi poke, Side Streets signature fried rice and the famous pan-fried pork chops.
Lotus Honolulu At Diamond Head
Ideally located close to the Waikiki beach, the Shoreline Hotel Waikiki is a boutique hotel that offers a Hawaiian-inspired setting, where every day youââ¬â¢ll be exposed to the contrasting, vibrant colors of the island through its interior decor. The on-site restaurant offers field-to-fork meals, just an ideal place to dine if you happen to be a conscious traveler.

I was visit 4 island out of 8 on my cruise trip around Hawaii. I stay 2 nights before and 2 nights after in Waikiki beach area: first two nights in – Hyatt, then 2 nights in Aston hotel on beach. Honolulu is big city with a lot of homeless around. And a lots of tourists on a beach of Waikiki. All beaches area belongs to the public, even if you stay in exepensive hotels, they dont have designated areas for the guises. Its hard to fine spots under the shade. But if you travel a little bit further out of center, you can fine a very nice place to swim. The same concept with food, the further from center the better deal: cheaper, bigger and better.Public transportation is great. I took a bus to Pearl Harbor for a $5,50 around trip from Waikiki area. Practically, you can get to all locations, very convenient.Uber is much cheaper than taxi, very reliable, trip from Waikiki beach hotel to port cost $17.Shuttle is practical too: to hotel from airport, cost $16 each way. Hawaii is most beautiful place in earth. The tru Hawaiian people is very sperutial, love the land they are leaving on and cherished every single stone on it. Hawaii has everything on earth: beautiful, year around warm ocean Incredible waterfall volcanic craters, erupted volcanic, lava breath taking views of shore lines canyons even snow in mountains. Its like Great Canyon, Yellowstone Park, road between LA and SF, Amalfy cost of Italy and beauty of Greece all together. Its paradise!!!Its best vacation so far.
