Where To Eat In San Juan
Puerto Rican cuisine is the kind of home-cooked food I expect to find at my grandmothers house. Its warm, soothing and fillingand usually served on a massive plate. Below are some of my favorite restaurants I dined at during my stay at Caribe Hilton.
Jose Enrique Puerto Rican Restaurant
Chef Jose Enrique consistently delivers solid renditions of local dishes at his namesake restaurant, which may just be the most famous restaurant in San Juan. Be prepared to wait, or call ahead to see if they take reservations. Online it says they dont but when I arrived, the hostess asked me if I had one. Since the wait was too long, I chose to dine at La Cueva Del Mar instead.
La Cueva Del Mar
A lively Caribbean restaurant known for their seafood and fish tacos. The sangria was delicious, too! Expect a wait on weekends.
A traditional Puerto Rican bakery located in a residential neighborhood near Ocean Park Beach. The pastries are endless and the coffee on pointI ordered the famous Puerto Rican mallorca bread, which came stuffed with an overwhelming dose of ham and cheese. I wish I had someone to share it with!
Id eat breakfast at Caficultura every day if I could. The coconut coffee is to die for, and brunch here was incredible. Everything from the food to the vibe makes it such a lovely dining spot. We ordered the avocado toast and French toast, and both topped my expectations, especially since I dont commonly go for the avocado toast.

Getting To And From The Airport
While Uber does exist in San Juan, you cannot use it to get from the airport to the city. You must line up at the taxi rank and take a taxi. Depending on how far you go the lowest rate is about $17 and the highest about $30. Luckily, the fee isnt per person, but per taxi.
You CAN, however, take an Uber from San Juan back to the airport without a problem. This is much cheaper. I paid $6.50 to get from my Airbnb in Ocean Park to the airport and that was very early in the morning.

Island hopping, long roadtrips, and city center walking can be tiring. If youre simply looking for a tranquil beach holiday with a great sunset and an epic view, then Vieques Island is the perfect place for you. Vieques is a dreamy island situated a 30min ferry ride, southeast of Puerto Ricos main island. Sure, San Juan and any of the other neighborhoods I have already talked about are also great places to destress, but Vieques truleu runs on island time and is the best place to take your mind off the stresses of everyday life.
Be on the lookout for wild horses roaming about the island!
And dont miss the bioluminescence at mosquito bay as Vieques Island has some of the most vibrant marine nightlife in the world. With over eight miles of beaches, Vieques Island offers some of the most beautiful white sand in the Caribbean for you to enjoy!
