There is no shortage of accommodations just outside the main South Entrance of the park in the town of Springdale. It is an artists community that also caters to tourists. There are shops, galleries, and a wide variety of local restaurants. Utah Highway 9 is the main drag, and most of the hotels, from the Holiday Inn to upscale local motels, are situated on it. Every hotel has access to a stop for the Springdale free shuttle, which will deposit you at the pedestrian entrance to Zion. Most of the hotels have free parking. Public parking in Springdale will cost about $20 a day. The park has very limited parking for visitors that fills up early in the morning. Zion Lodge is the only hotel in Zion National Park. Located in the heart of Zion Canyon, this historic lodge is a terrific place to stay, but its often booked months in advanceespecially during the busy summer months.
If Zion Lodge is booked, consider some of the great hotels and bed and breakfasts just outside the park. Zions South Entrance is located next to the small town of Springdale, which is home to over a dozen hotels. A few minutes down the road is the small town of Rockville, which has a handful of hotels and B& Bs.
The town of Virgin, located 14 miles from Zions South Entrance , also has a few hotels. And the towns of Hurricane and La Verkin, located 23 miles from South Entrance , have dozens of lodging options.
Another option is staying near Zions East Entrance. There are a handful of places to stay near the eastern boundary of Zion National Park, and additional lodging in the town of Mt. Carmel Junction, located 13 miles from Zions East Entrance.

Bunk In A Backcountry Yurt
If you crave the quiet wilderness with expansive views of Zion National Park, then heres the yurt for you. It will be just sheep and cows grazing in the meadows, you, plus 8 of your closest friends. You wont be roughing it. The yurt has hot water, a flushing toilet, hammocks, beds, a BBQ, and a wood-burning stove.
Located just over 3 miles from Zion, the yurt sits on the side of a mountain overlooking the entrance to the world-famous Narrows hike. In the evening, the lack of light pollution makes for the darkest of skies and brilliant stars. The perfect place for viewing is one of the two private fire pit in front of the yurt.

If youre interested in a camping-esque experience but arent quite willing to rough it, consider glamping at Under Canvas Zion. The seasonal camp, which is open from March to November, sits on 196 acres adjacent to Zion National Parks eastern border, making for easy park access. It is, however, a bit of a remote location its about 30-minutes to downtown Springdales entertainment but thats definitely part of the propertys allure.
Accommodations are all tent-style, and they range from units with private bathrooms with running water to safari-style tents with communal facilities that fit up to seven guests. Theres an on-site restaurant that serves breakfast and dinner, and it also offers picnic lunches for your adventures in the park or on the property. Under Canvas Zion can organize a range of activities from safari tours to stand-up paddleboarding to yoga classes and massages. While youll still be as close to nature as one can get, youll also be surrounded by plush creature comforts.

Staying Farther Out Is A Tradeoff
You can find more accommodations in Hurricane and on toward St. George that might be cheaper, but the farther you go from the park, the longer it takes to get there. Keep in mind that parking is not easy to find in the park or cheap in Springdale. Hurricane is 24 miles to the park entrance, so add gas and time to your travel plans as well. I highly recommend staying no farther than Virgin to keep commuting to a minimum. There is a Fairfield Inn in Virgin.
If you do decide to stay between Hurricane and St. George, you will find plenty of chain hotels like LaQuinta, Best Western, and Quality Inn. Some of these chain hotels are also located in Springdale.

We were looking for a place that had outdoor seating and something different from the BBQ and sandwiches wed been having throughout our trip. Oscars Cafe offered both with a huge outdoor seating area, fun atmosphere and great menu. And the portions were a bit ridiculous. Want an easy meal that feeds three adults or a family of four?
