Terlingua: Where To Stay Near Big Bend
The tiny ghost town of Terlingua is the gateway to Big Bend.
There is a wider range of Big Bend accommodations here in both price and comfort level.
There are a few motels right in town but theyre fairly basic.
For the best Terlingua experience I recommend renting a rental home, which is what we did.
At the time, the Chisos Mountain Lodge was out of our budget so we rented a small cabin like this in Terlingua. The room itself was very basic but the overall experience was unforgettable.
It was the unique experience you cant get a hotel.
There are cool trailers, adobe homes in the desert, and even tee-pees.
Since I know well be going back to Big Bend as much as possible, I have a bad habit of looking at cool properties to stay at next time.
These restored mining ruins are at the very top of my list along with this cabin .

Top 3 Places To Stay In Bend
Bend is small and rural, so its a pretty safe destination to bring the family. If you want to explore further afield, it would be worthwhile bringing a car. Most importantly, though, bring your bike! This is the most popular mode of transport in the city, so youll feel perfectly safe.
Since its quite a small city, we consider Bend a neighbourhood in its own right. For first time visitors, Bend is a fantastic gateway into one of Oregons most unique regions. Although weve recommended bringing your own vehicle, there are enough tour providers in Bend for you to get by if you need a little help getting into the more scenic areas.
Theres no escaping, however, that Bend is a super expensive destination. Budget travellers shouldnt run away just yet though Redmond is a fantastic alternative only a short drive away from the city. Though functionally its own city, Redmond is often considered a northern suburb of Bend. It also has a decent nightlife and dining scene, and some more laid-back hikes nearby.
Those looking for a more adventurous USA travel experience should opt for Sisters instead. Whether youre into hiking, kayaking or fishing its all on offer in this cute little town. Its even more secluded than Bend, so youll really feel like youre living out in the sticks. Scratch beneath the surface, however, and youll find a unique insight into Oregons rural culture.
