Chinatown Best Place To Stay In Boston For Nightlife
Chinatown is a small but vibrant neighbourhood located in central Boston. Its home to incredible restaurants and colorful shops, and is also where youll find the best nightlife in Boston.
Whether youre looking for a cool jazz bar, a thriving discotheque, a relaxing pub or a wild night out, theres something for everyone in Chinatown.
Cheaper Hotels In Boston Suburbs
A lot of visitors assume that staying outside the city of Boston is the best way to save on hotel costs. However, you may be spending just as much to stay outside the city plus spending a lot more time traveling each day. Not all suburban hotels offer free parking on-site and you may still need to drive and park at a train station or a city garage as well as the cost of the T, so travel expenses can quickly add up. Also, plan on at spending at least 40 minutes commuting by train into the city one-way, which can take up some valuable sight-seeing and vacation time.
For example, a CharlieTicket will run $5.10 to and from and large MBTA parking lots tend to charge $5-7 a day for parking. For example, a family of 4 could pay over $27 a day to park at a T lot and then take the T in on top of car rental costs and gas.
Typically I do recommend staying inside the city and walking and taking public transit everywhere. However, in some cases staying outside of the city may be the best option depending on how busy the city is or your exact travel plans.
If you do decide to stay outside the city and take the T into the city, Riverside , Alewife , Quincy Adams and Sullivan Square are popular MBTA parking garages, although not to say that other parking garages wont work. For example, some parking garages like Braintree will fill up on a weekday by 8 am, whereas, the next parking garage up, Quincy Adams, has a lot more parking spots and availability.
Revolution Hotel In Boston’s South End
40 Berkeley Street, Boston’s South End
The new 177-room Revolution Hotel in the trendy South End continues the trend of combining “micro” guest rooms for 1-4 people with a hip vibe, free amenities such as high speed wifi and a comfortable coworking space dubbed “Conspire,” and very low rates. You’ll also like the onsite bistro/cafe with outdoor seating options for warmer weather – or walk around the neighborhood and take in the beautifully-restored Victorian brownstones and quirky community gardens.
The result? The Revolution is one of Boston’s most attractive affordable hotels, especially considering its close distance to Downtown Boston.
The catch? The cheapest guestrooms share bathrooms accessed via the hall rather than en suite.
But if hallway facilities are not your thing, pay a little more for a bathroom in your room and you’ll still get cheaper rates than in other nearby hotels.

Can You Save At Hotels Outside Of Boston
Yes, sometimes you can save a lot – but be careful not to choose a hotel outside the city that puts you far away from public transportation such as the subway. Otherwise, almost every penny you hoped to save will be eaten up by the time and cost of driving into Boston and paying high parking fees.

I’m always surprised when I see relatively low rates, because there’s no obvious reason why you would get such a bargain here.

1. Visit Coit Observatory at Boston University
Spend some time gazing at your favorite constellations at Harvards Coit Observatory. They offer free stargazing Wednesdays after 8:30 pm throughout the spring and the summer . Space is limited so book your free tickets in advance.
2. Climb the Bunker Hill Monument
The Battle of Bunker Hill in 1775 was one of the first major battles of the American Revolutionary War. While the British eventually took the field, Americans wore the British forces down much more than anticipated. After the battle, the British were much more cautious in their advance, which gave the Americans more time to prepare for the coming war. The monument stands 221-feet, and you can climb to the top free of charge. There is also a nearby museum which is also free. This is the best view of the Boston skyline, so dont miss it. Its at the end of the Freedom Trail, so you can do one and knock out both!
3. Enjoy a picnic at Boston Common
One of the nations oldest existing parks, the Boston Common spans nearly 50 acres. Originally, it was used as shared pasture land by Puritan settlers when they arrived. The Common sees plenty of people on warm summer days as there are lots of paths to wander, as well as the Frog Pond where kids and adults can cool off. During the winter, theres skating on the pond. Boston Common is a great place to go people-watching, picnic with a book, and snap pictures of the city.

Cheap Rates At Boston’s Top Hotels
At certain times of the year, such as Labor Day weekend when everyone heads to the beach for the last days of summer, almost every hotel on the city is on sale. If your timing is right, you can sometimes find amazing rates at some of Boston’s best hotels, such as the Park Plaza Hotel Boston, the Lenox Hotel, and the Omni Parker Hotel.
Why? These are older hotels, with wide ranges of room sizes – no cookie-cutter rooms here! You’ll sometimes find the smaller rooms at a BIG discount – sometimes at rates even lower than what you’d normally expect at Boston discount hotels.

Best Value Boston Hotels Near Subway Stations On The T
Boston is a fabulous city to visit with plenty to see and do, but it is not an inexpensive city to stay in. Boston Hotels are some of the most expensive in the country, but our recommendations offer some of the best value available. If you book well ahead, you can get some pretty good discounts during certain times of the year. You’ll get better value on the outskirts of the downtown area which isnt bad if youre within walking distance of the subway. Weve selected these Boston hotels near the subway based on their overall value. They range from 2 to 4 stars, to meet a variety of needs and price points.
Hotels offering the best value soon become known by regular visitors to the city, so book your room well in advance to get the best deal. Last minute bookings rarely save you money in high demand cities and sometimes cost much more.
Youll often find the best deals on hotels located Downtown on weekends, so weve included a few that frequently offer weekend discounts.
Downtown hotels, in particular, tend to charge high parking fees. Rates sometimes exceed $50 per night , so if you are driving to Boston, youll save more staying in the outskirts where parking is often free. From there you can take the train into the city centre and leave the hassle of driving and parking in an unfamiliar city behind.

Planning a Trip to Boston Travel Checklist
Boston makes for a great weekend trip from New York City. We hopped on a bus ride from midtown which took about 3.5 hours one way, or 5 hours in traffic.
We thought about renting a car but Boston is a very walk-able city and parking can be a nightmare, so the bus ended up being a great option! If you’re decide you do want a car to get around, you can check car rental rates here.
