Downtown Cannon Beach has fun shops and great restaurants. We ate at the Wayfarer Restaurant that has an amazing view of Haystack Rock. The food was delicious. Our great motel was on the beach and was right in town. We parked our car at the motel and didn’t have to worry about parking in town. Ecola State Park was next to Cannon Beach. It has spectacular views of the beach and hiking trails. We met people from all over the U.S. and they were having a great time.

Cannon Beach is a walkable little beach town. We stayed in the heart of the town, and rarely used our car once we arrived at the motel. The town reminded me of the combination of Mendocino, Martha’s Vineyard and Cape May Point, all places that I love to visit. Great restaurants, cafes, stores to visit. Beach walks are a must, as is the hike above the town. Next time, we will stay longer!

We are a couple planning our Oregon trip for July and would love recommendations or preferences for the above for our 2 night stay in Cannon Beach. Location and atmosphere are top priority. Oceanfront lodging is not in the budget but we desire a location with nice ambience and best location for all that town has to offer. My husband loves to park the car and not get in it again until we leave. Walking is never an issue. Would love your thoughts on Courtyard or McBee or Hearthstone. Great Destination For A Long Weekend
Great destination for a long weekend. Beautiful beaches, state parks, and a wide variety of restaurants. Under two hours from Portland and centrally located between several beach towns. We were able to visit Astoria, Manzanita and Tillamook all in the same weekend. Beach bonfires at Haystack Rock at sunset are a must!

Cannon beach is one of the most stunning beaches I’ve ever seen. The rock outcroppings on the beach are home to hundreds of sea stars and anemones at low tide. The forests in State Parks nearby have enormous evergreens and great hiking trails. For entertainment, skim boarding is popular at Cannon Beach and surfing is popular at Short Sands beach a 10 minute drive to the south. Families can enjoy the neighboring town of Seaside for typical beachside amusements, promenade, restaurants and shops. Make sure you enjoy a campfire on the beach at sunset. Fire rings abound and firewood is sold at most lodgings and stores.
