I had an average experience overall at this Best Western. The hotel is in a good location and is near several good restaurants and shops. The strongest point to this Best Western is that the woman at the front desk was super friendly and welcoming and was very helpful. The actual interior of the hotel was ok, but I think that the carpets and rooms could use some updating/freshening up. Based on other reviews it seems like a renovation is in the works. It wasn’t bad enough to not come back, but I think it would definitely help the hotel to at least install new carpets, and maybe some brighter/cheerier lighting in the lobby area. I was traveling with my dog and the hotel is super pet friendly and accommodating of pets.

Im always on the lookout for fun things to do in Pennsylvania at Christmas, and if they are near my home in Cumberland County, thats even better. So, when I recently learned about the Trail of Lights at Country Creek Produce Farm near Chambersburg, I knew I had to check it out.

Trail of Lights first opened to the public in 2020, though Country Creek has been running popular seasonal events for longer than that. The farm is located about four miles south of Chambersburg in Franklin County and is just a short distance west of I-81, making it easy to access for just about anyone in the region.

Trail of Lights is located on roughly 14 acres of this 60-acre farm and features many different attractions, including some that are rare to find among Christmas light displays in PA. In addition to a walk-through light show, there is a petting zoo, giant slides, ziplines, and more.

Interestingly, upon pulling up to the grounds shortly after their 4:30 opening time, I was prepared to be a bit disappointed. Arriving at that time, we not only didnt get the full effect of the lights, but some of the other attractions are hard to see from the road.

Fortunately, once I got in and started looking around, it quickly became apparent how much there was to do at Trail of Lights and how much fun my family was about to have.

The most obvious and popular attraction during the holiday season at Country Creek Farm is the Trail of Lights.

It was a bit pricey but this is a very nice property that is pet friendly. We could tell where the problem areas were because our dog sniffed them all out. The rooms could’ve been cleaned a little better. But even with all of that said, I would stay here again, if I’m back in the area, simply because of the pet policy. Plus, since we’re in covid times, we brought wipes along to double clean anyway.

The room was inexpensive so the facilities were not fancy but they seem well kept – my room was very clean, comfortable and quiet and the breakfast was adequate . Staff were both gracious and kind. Good value for the money spent.

We visited close friends most of the time, and traveled out of Chambersburg, but the town is clean and the people are friendly. We stopped at a quilt shop and a fruit stand to buy cherries, peaches, and melons that were delicious. Everyone was helpful and friendly that we talked to. We plan on returning in a couple years.
