Great town, amazing food but very disrepectful skiers on the resort with no manners and no line priorities kept. They hit me and my wife around , through us down , steped on our equipment, hit on our equipment blocked us while going of the lift. They through me down on a black slope by bulleting right next to me. Overall very disrespectful I will choose another resort next time.

Why Stay On Alpe Di Siusi
Magical Sunrises
Experiencing sunrise atop Alpe di Siusi is like stepping into a bewitching realm, where light and shadow perform an eternal dance for each other.
First, the long ridgeline of Sciliar burns like a red flame, reminding you of the pagan rituals that long transpired atop the Sciliar plateau. Then the sun rays drench the meadows in shades of gold. The light seems to sanctify everything in its direct path. And finally, the Sassolungo Group transforms slowly into a perfect violet silhouette.
If you visit Alpe di Siusi in early summer, sunrise is around 5:15 am. Staying on the plateau affords you the ability to experience sunrise with very little effort. The alternative is to drive to Compaccio/Compatsch in the dark and then to continue on foot towards Sassolungo.
We relished our early morning walk, knowing that after sunrise, we could walk back to our hotel, Hotel Steger-Dellai, and indulge in a rich breakfast buffet.
Gourmet Huts
Alpe di Siusi harbors some of the most gourmet alpine pasture huts in the Dolomites.
With a few nights on the plateau, you can drink wine at Rauchhütte, eat the hay flower soup at Gostner Schwaige, taste Tiroelan and Ladin cuisine at Baita Sanon, and visit a dozen more huts scattered across the mountain pasture.
Look for accommodation on Alpe di Siusi.
Why Stay In Val D Ega

A lot of people make a stop at Lake Carezza/Karersee on their Dolomites road trips. Emerald-colored Lake Carezza is an extremely photogenic lake youve definitely seen pictures of. While this lake might be the initial draw, dont let it be the last. Stay in Val dEga for a few nights to explore the beauty of the Latemar and Rosengarten/Catinaccio mountains. Youll find some more ideas in our brief guide to Sciliar-Catinaccio Nature Park.

History And Interesting Facts
The history of Cortina dates back to the times of the ancient Romans and Barbarians. The city owes its development to the exploitation of forests in the area and the timber trade. Due to its geographical position, it was first annexed to the Republic of Venice and then to the Austro-Hungarian Empire. From the mid-1800s, thanks to the railways that made it accessible to wealthy European travellers, Cortina was transformed into the true capital of the Dolomites and thus, the grand hotels and the first sports and tourist facilities were established. The First World War was the historical event that had the most significant impact on the region. Subsequently, in the 1930s, it was the favorite destination of the fascist elite. After the 1956 Olympics, the first of the television era, Cortina slowly began to develop into the town we recognise today.

Hiking Towards Lago Di Sorapiss
One of our favorite hikes was the hike to Lago di Sorapiss. We started our hike at Passo Tre Croci and from there we followed trail 215 towards the lake. The first part of the hike is relatively easy and leads you through a green forest. Once you get out of the forest the path gets a bit trickier and youll come across some very narrow sections. Luckily these sections have fixed iron cables to hold onto. After about 2 hours youll reach Lago di Sorapiss. Youll be amazed by the color of the water! Its a kind of milky-blue and unlike anything weve seen before. Theres a hut at the lake called Rifugio Vandelli . Make sure to try their delicious gnocchi! During our hike we had a lot of rain, but on the way back it started to clear up and we were rewarded with an amazing rainbow over the valley below.
