Where To Eat And Drink In Park City

Deer Valley Resort – General Hiking Tips

No trip to Park City is complete without a stiff drink at High West Distillery. Their saloon is conveniently positioned at the end of the in-town Quitin Time Trail, making it an easy place to loosen up those ski boots. In addition to the whiskey cocktails, the Pimento Cheese Deviled Eggs and Pastrami-Spiced Chicken Wings are exactly what you crave after a day on the mountain. High West has also transformed the deck of Nelson Cottage into a distanced après and prix-fixe dinner experience with private alpenglobes.

For the best not-so-secret burger in town, walk up main street to No Name Saloon. Grab a seat in front of the wood-burning stove and check out the antiques and oddities covering the walls of the Mission-style pub. If youre looking for something a little healthier, Harvest is your go-to for pillowy scrambled eggs piled on toasted sourdough and acai bowls with homemade muesli. Other notable places include Firewood, a sleek date night spot on main street where everything from the wagyu to the provoleta is cooked over a wood-fired grill. The seasonally-driven Riverhorse on Main has an impressive wine list and The Eating Establishment is the go-to for all-day breakfast and diner classics. Yuki Yama has super-fresh sushi while Old Town Cellars is great for a more subdued wine bar vibe. On the Deer Valley side, dont miss the St. Regiss cocktail lounge or its pop-up yurt village for après ski Champagne with foie gras and osetra caviar.

Delve Into Some Archery

One of the highlights of our trip to Deer Valley was some old-fashioned archery. If you head over to the Montage in Deer Valley, you can schedule a time to channel your inner Game of Thrones and fire off some arrows. I have to say I absolutely love archery. It could be that it is something that I am better at than the rest of my family, but in reality, I just love the feeling of shooting off the arrow and nailing the target.

Our instructor, Mike, was super helpful at teaching the kids how to shoot and all were not only able to hit the target but also the bullseye. At the Montage, you earn a pin for different achievements and the kids were excited to receive one for hitting the bullseye.

Planning Your Time On The Mountain

Deer Valley Resort

Once you have your flight and lodging booked, the very next thing to do is book everyones ski lessons and, if needed, child care. Deer Valleys ski school is famous for its quality instructors, and for that reason, it books up *fast. *So think ahead while youre trip planning. Will your kids need lessons? And, moreover, just how much skiing will they have energy to do? When their ski legs are all worn out, the Childrens Center offers exceptional child care with great adult-to-child ratios. Kids love it so much that they generally beg to go back the next day. By letting your kids have a blast at the Childrens Center while theyre not skiing, you can enjoy some valuable adult-only ski time or hours on the ski hill with just one kid at a time.

While youre booking lessons and child care, think about whether the adults in your group would like a lesson or two as well. In a session with a private instructor or in a small group of similarly skilled adults, you can make excellent progress that helps you enjoy skiing even more. Maybe you overcome your fear of trying your first intermediate run, or maybe you work from advanced to expert on the moguls. Its always worthwhile to become more competent and confident.

Ski Trip To Deer Valley On Feb

We’ll be going to Deer Valley on Feb for a week for a ski trip. First time in Deer Valley/PC area. We have 3 children who will be going to ski school . I have looked at several options for lodging so far including Trails End/Pine inn which is in Snow Park, Shooting Star in Empire, and Black Bear Lodge in Silver Lake. Shooting Star seems to be the nicest one of those including its location, but I’m afraid that with beginner skiers making it in the morning to ski school at the base may be a problem. Trails End seems to be right at the base which would be convenient, although I’m feeling we would lose on staying in more secluded area with more of a mountain feel. Finally, Silver Lake seems to be a good compromise as there is a short green run down to the base, however, Black Bear Lodge is not ski in/ski out so it would have the inconvenience of walking to the slope/lifts.

Any advice from people familiar with Deer Valley? Thanks!

Stay Deer Valley Vs Park City

Traveling with 2 adults and 3 kids in March. Want to ski Deer Valley. We understand that snowpark village has no other restaurants in the area. Is it better to just stay in Park City and catch shuttles or drive to Deer Valley to Ski. Am afraid there arent enough other things to do in DV for wife and littler kids who arent into skiing as much.

The shuttles go both ways in and out of DV and PC so don’t worry. Just stay where you get the best deal and accomodations. DV is literally 5 minutes from downtown PC. Park City resort has an ice skating rink. Theres several commercial sledding areas very close with lifts. Day spas, fun shopping, the best carmel apples at Dollys bookstore. It’s not hard to get around PC at all driving, walking, or using the free shuttle. Everything is very close. Parking around Main street is a bit difficult though if you don’t know where all the secret parking lots are. Just ask where you are staying or take the shuttles in to town.

Staying in Deer Valley would be my choice if the price is close or the same as the others. The accomodations there are newer, most likely, and better cared for.

Skiing at Deer Valley with three kids would be easier if you stay there. They can get around and meet you back at your lodgings. Or if they are too young to go alone, the two adults can split up responsibilities more easily. My family always preferred ski in/out when the kids were young.

Upper And Lower Deer Valley

Deer Valley Resort is split into two areas: lower Deer Valleyknown as Snow Parkand upper Deer Valleyknown as Silver Lake Village. What is the difference, you may ask?

Upper Deer Valley is home to the most luxurious lodging in the area, including the Montage Deer Valley, Stein Eriksen Lodge, and the St. Regis Deer Valley. Most properties in this area are Ski-in/Ski-out and are a bit isolated from the rest of Park City. The isolation can either be a feature or a drawback, depending on your taste. Town is only a quick shuttle or car ride away.

Go For A Hike & Grab A Bite To Eat

Deer Valley Resort Park City // Silver Baron Lodge with Kids

One of the first things we did in Utah was to go on a hike. We decided to take a two-hour hike up to the top of Bald Mountain. In order to shorten the hike we grabbed a lift ticket from the snow park ticket office and took the lift to mid-mountain. From there we headed along the Ontario hiking trail for a beautiful two-hour hike.

The trees you walk through are absolutely stunning and another fun thing to do along the hike is watching the downhill mountain bikers fly down the mountain.

The view from the top of Bald Mountain was simply breathtaking, my kids felt like they were on top of the world. Afterward, we rode the lift down to mid-mountain for a quick bite to eat at the Royal Street Cafe

Another thing you can do at mid-mountain is going for a scenic horseback ride. I have always loved horses since I was a child and although I did not have time to go for such a ride on this trip, I cant wait to go the next time to experience riding horses through such incredible beauty. You can book horseback rides at

Airport Transportation To Deer Valley Resort

There are many ways to get to Deer Valley. From the airport, you can rent a car, request Uber or Lyft or pre-book airport transfer. Our round-trip airport transfer from the airport to Deer Valley Resort and back were booked with Snow Country Limousine. Their service was great! Our driver was waiting at the airport with a sign with my name on it when we landed. They also provided booster seats for the kids so we didnt need to travel with car seats.
