Nashville is located on the Cumberland River. The citys downtown is located to the west of the river, and the city has expanded from there. The city has some sprawl, but there are many neighborhoods that form walkable pockets. Where to stay in Nashville depends on what you want from your experience while visiting, but lets start with one of the most popular areas to stay:

The Gulch The Trendiest Area

Long ago, the Gulch neighborhood was home to abandoned warehouses, factory buildings, and empty lots. Today, it has become the most modern neighborhood in Nashville, surrounded by luxury apartments, fancy hotels, trendy restaurants, and bars.
This little corner is in between Midtown, SoBro and the Music Row has something to fit everybodys taste. Bluegrass enthusiasts can have a fun-filled experience of banjos and mandolins performance at the Station Inn. But if you are a visual artist, I would recommend The Frist Center for Visual Arts an art deco style building full of complex design and details.

Where To Stay In Music Valley
In a city with as much to do as there is in Nashville, it’s tempting to want to stay as close to downtown as possible. However, depending on your tastes, you may find that the Donelson area and Music Valley work out better for you. For one thing, Donelson is bordered to the south by Nashville International Airport, making it easy to reach from the moment you get into town. But also, Music Valley is home to some of Nashville’s top attractions.
One of those is the Grand Ole Opry. While in Nashville, you should make it your mission to catch this legendary radio show performed live at the Opry House, which is about as Nashville an experience as you could possibly have. Plus, Music Valley is also home to Gaylord Opryland Resort. This sprawling complex is one of the top attractions in Nashville, offering a waterpark complete with artificial beaches, shopping, restaurants, and music venues. The resort is operated by Marriott and has an on-site hotel, but you can access many of the facilities without being a guest. Although Donelson lies outside the city center, it is connected to Riverfront Station by the Music City Star commuter rail line, so if you choose to stay in this area, you won’t find it difficult to get into central Nashville to enjoy everything it has to offer.

New East Nashville Hotels That Even Locals Will Love
East Nashville is suddenly Nashville’s newest hotspot for hotels and ones that locals will want to check out. Here are five at which to book a room, or a reservation for dinner or perhaps a reservation for a dip in the pool! Image: Rooftop bar at Vandyke Bed + Beverage
Fast facts from Visit Music Citys website:
- In 2018, 15 hotels opened with 2,304 rooms, with nine hotels and 1,219 rooms opening in 2017.
- In 2019, 21 hotels with 2,803 rooms are scheduled to open.
Its widely quoted that over the next few years, more than 15,000 new hotel rooms will be available in Nashville. To put that in perspective, the entire metro area currently has about 45,000 hotel rooms. Those new 15,000 rooms are just in Davidson County, not the metropolitan area. Plainly speaking, thats a whole lot of new hotel rooms being added to our city. If you are thinking that tourism has peaked, it has not. Not even close.
With all the hotel growth in Nashville, one area of town that we dont widely think of as having a bounty of hotels is East Nashville. However, that is now changing, and these new East Nashville hotels are piquing the interest of locals and tourists alike. Each place is distinctly different from the next, and each hotels offerings further cements East Nashville as a creative epicenter of Music City.
