Suggestions For Dogs To Play In Snow

Flagstaff Arizona I Dog Friendly Travel I Winter Edition

Hi all!

We are coming up next weekend for an overnight to bring our 2 goldens to the snow. We already have our pup friendly accommodations for Sat night. Hoping that the snow you’re getting sticks around until then.

I am looking for trails that we can walk, hike, or other areas we could go where the white stuff is hanging around. In the past we have gone up to the rim to the forest lakes area where you can park and walk the roads that are not maintained- just looking for a different place this year.

I know there are many restaurants up there that are dog friendly but I think they are all for outdoor seating, and likely not available, correct? We’ll just do take out back to the hotel if we can’t find somewhere to take them if so, but thought I’d ask about that as well.

Thanks for any suggestions you may have

Back when I lived at the Grand Canyon and Page, we would take our dog down to the Flagstaff area and just pull off the road at a spot that didn’t look like it was on private property and had sufficient room for him to run , but the town has grown a lot since then and I don’t know if I’d recommend that approach now.

According to this dogs are permitted at the Flagstaff Nordic Center as long as they are kept on leash and under control. You might also visit snowplayaz.com for more ideas.

Good luck!

You don’t mention kids, so I’m not recommending ‘organized” snowplay areas usually used for sledding etc.
