Most lodgings are in the steep, historic downtown with a view of the river. We loved staying at the Hood River Hotel, and enjoyed eating dinner at Celilo and 3 Rivers. Breakfasts at River Daze and Broder OST were both great. We were there to drive around and explore the region for 3 days – seeing if it would be a good place for regular getaways. Much of the trappings for visitors in downtown focuses on mountain and river sports. The area upland is beautiful farmland with orchards and vineyards – just what we were hoping for. Drives up and down the Gorge are breathtaking.
