Runner Up Choice For Cabins In Jasper: Jasper East Cabins
Jasper East Cabins. These cabins are located just outside of the national park gates, so about 30 minutes to get to Jasper.
But the remote location makes for some unreal stargazing when the night sky is clear. Out here there is very little light pollution.
Jasper is the second largest designated dark sky preserve in the world and theyve built an annual festival every October to celebrate.
As an added bonus, theres a great local brewery next door called Folding Mountain Brewery.
Beckers Chaletsshould be another contender if youre visiting Jasper between May and October .
The rustic log cabins are accented by verdant meadows leading to mountains in the background.
Friendly Hostel In Downtown Jasper: Jasper Downtown Hostel
This is the only hostel in the national park that isnt operated by Hostelling International instead, its run by locals.
Jasper Aquatic and Activity Centre is located a couple of minutes away, and the main restaurant district is right on the doorstep. There are plenty of social spaces on offer, as well as a fully equipped kitchen.

Icefields Parkway, Great Lodging in Jasper National Park
Although there are plenty of amazing things to do in Banff, the road itself has many attractions and places worth stopping at on the Icefields Parkway, so I recommend staying at least a day halfway between Jasper and Banff.

Final Thoughts On Where To Stay In Jasper
Jasper National Park is a stunning place to stay in Canada, right in the heart of its section of the Rocky Mountains. This UNESCO World Heritage Site is quieter than the other national parks in the area, making it a great place to enjoy unspoiled scenery and peaceful hiking trails. Youll also be able to unwind in some of the most secluded accommodation in Alberta.
If we had to pick one place as our favorite overall, it would be Downtown Jasper! Its located right in the heart of the national park, and is well connected to everywhere else mentioned in this guide. You can also easily take one of the many tours on offer and let a local guide show you the park through their eyes.
That being said, the best place for you really depends what you want from your trip! Both Icefields Parkway and Miette Hot Springs offer something a little more secluded. Lake Louise, on the other hand, is great if you plan on visiting multiple national parks in one trip.
We hope this guide has helped you narrow down your options for your upcoming trip to Jasper National Park!

And dont forget to take out Travel Insurance for your trip! I have been using World Nomads for some time now and made a few claims over the years. Theyre easy to use, professional and relatively affordable. They may also let you buy or extend a policy once youve started your trip and are already abroad which is super handy.

Where To Stay In Jasper: The Best Places To Stay In Jasper
Jasper is a gem in the heart of the Canadian Rockies, but gets far less fanfare than its nearby cousin, Banff. Its much smaller and less developed than Banff, and all you have to do to get out into nature and feel wild is drive a few minutes outside of the downtown area. Because it is much quieter, it is also great for wildlife viewing.
Jasper National Park has over 53 mammal species living in it, including wolves, moose, elk, cougars, and grizzly bears. We loved Jasper because of the abundance of natural beauty and the incredible hiking trails we found just outside of town.
You HAVE to make it out to Maligne Lake at sunrise if you can swing it we even saw a pair of moose along the lake as the sun rose!
There are a couple of things to consider when youre thinking about where to stay in Jasper, and it will essentially depend on how much driving you are willing to do, and whether you want to be surrounded by nature, or in the downtown area where youre surrounded by all sorts of restaurants and bars, among other things.
Staying outside of Downtown Jasper means you have the serenity of a mountain or lakeside retreat, but you will need to drive into Downtown Jasper if you want to try a restaurant or head to a bar.
Whatever your style and budget is, youll find something that fits in Jasper.

Luxury And Higher End Places To Stay In Jasper
The Fairmont Jasper Park Lodge is one of the best hotels in Jasper National Park.
This is one of my favorite Fairmont mountain properties. Its nestled deep in the woods, and all the rooms are cabin-style!
This place is awesome because you get the rustic alpine style vibe with all the luxurious service and offerings of a Fairmont property. And you will often wake up to deer and elk quietly roaming around the property.
All rooms come with awesome ground level patios with comfy lounge chairs.
Tip: try to get a room overlooking the waterstunning! And the outdoor hot tub and heated pool provide some pretty majestic views.
The JPL is not within walking distance to town, but its just over a 5 minute drive. If you dont have a vehicle there are shuttles or taxis that will take you there very easily.
A very comparable high end property is the Pyramid Lake Resort.
Here you can go canoeing, fishing and hiking right out your front door. In the summer you can enjoy a private beach for guests only, and in the winter its the perfect place for ice skating on a frozen lake surrounded by mountains.
Its the perfect place to unwind, disconnect, grab a seat on a cozy chair outside and watch the wildlife pass by!

Where To Stay Near Jasper National Park For Cheap
If youre really on a budget or just looking to save that extra bit of cash, you could consider staying outside of Jasper National Park and stay in Hinton, which is a 45 minute drive away.
Not only is it cheaper to stay here, sometimes its your only option! In busy season , Jasper gets booked up and might have zero vacancy.
While Hinton can be beautiful since you can see the mountains in the distance, its mostly an industrial and blue collar community.
And because there is a pulp mill in town, theres often a stench in the air that smells like rotten eggs.
Ive stayed here on a last minute New Years snowboard trip and the air definitely smelled, but we were only outside to load up the car in the morning and when we got back in the afternoon the money savings makeup for the smell!
You will also notice that Valemount is another community outside of Jasper National Park, but its further from Jasper than Hinton and its primary tourism activity is snowmobiling.
Whistlers Campground Is Open
The time has finally come. Parks Canada is pleased to announce the refurbished Whistlers Campground in Jasper National Park will reopen to the public on July 12, 2021. Campers will be able to book their sites online using the Parks Canada Reservation Service starting at 8 am MDT on June 24, 2021. Users will be placed into a queue to access the reservation system.
Its more important than ever for people to connect with nature and rediscover the outdoors after feeling the effects of pandemic isolation. Although we are still applying the finishing touches, we look forward to welcoming you to Whistlers Campground this summer, and to the grand opening celebration in spring 2022. We would be grateful for your continued understanding and patience, so appreciated during the construction phase, as we reopen Whistlers Campground with new buildings, new systems, and new staff.
