Awsome Place To Stay In Maui
This resort is next to the beach and restaurants making your stay enjoyable and time utilization. No parking issues and walkable to beach and restaurants. 5 min drive to convenience stores. The hotel staff is very nice and helpful, and rooms are always clean and tidy after a staff member cleans it. The rooms have very nice views, whether you have a beach view or a garden view. The rooms come with a coffee maker, a few packets of Kona coffee blend, and a bathroom with a shower that is amazing to bathe in.The shower also comes with liquid soaps that you can access at the press of a button. Something that is very convenient is if you press the button for the elevator and it takes too long, there is a sitting area for you to wait on each floor. The hotel has a large campus, with long stretches of grass and plants, a pool that goes as deep as seven feet, and even a restaurant named HuiHui. The beach near the hotel is very calm, but can sometimes have large waves out the blue you should watch out for.Nearby the hotel is Whaler’s Village, which has many fun things to do, and many amazing places to eat. If you are searching for budget accommodation, but with all the perks that a resort offers, you will be hard-pressed to find a better stay. The private terrace could not be any closer to the beach and is a wonderful place to unwind at the end of the day and view the sunset. Front Street is right next door and the historic district is only minutes away, which makes this an excellent home base for exploring Lahaina!
Old School And Understated Newly Remodeled $$$
The Royal Lahaina Resort is what a big resort on Maui was like 30 years ago, and that’s not a bad thing. The hotel has an authentic Hawaiian vibe to it, the tower rooms are updated and the cottages are in the process. Sure, you don’t get swim up bars and the lobby won’t make you start snapping instagrams but you do get an affordable room on a lovely beach that is significantly less crowded than the one just a mile south.
Ocean view rooms are about the same price as a parking lot view at the big resorts and the partial ocean views are way better than than sliver of blue you get at other hotels. Even the non-ocean rooms face a beautiful golf course and the mountains, not too shabby. There’s a walk up bar near the beach, a decent restaurant on site, shuttles to Whalers Village, and a family budget friendly luau that ranks with some of the best. There’s a real laid back feel to this place, a sharp contrast to the hyper activity levels at the big name resorts.
It’s not fancy like a spa resort but the updated rooms have a contemporary elegance and the updated and remodeled cottages are a spectacular setting for a special vacation. TIP: If you opt for a low end room, avoid anything on the 3rd or 4th floor as they overlook the rooftops and if you go with a cottage make sure it was recently updated as the old ones are old indeed.

Kaanapali Beach has everything: long sandy beach, sunshine, shallow water close to shore, snorkeling beside Black Rock at the north end, tour boats departing right from the beach, kiosks to rent beach equipment or buy sunscreen, restaurants, shopping, and fancy resorts. There are booths on Kaanapali Beach where you can sign up for snorkeling, boat excursions, kayaking, sailing, the Sheraton Luau, surfing lessons, and water equipment rentals.
Why Stay In Kaanapali
Kaanapali Beach has major resort hotels, condos, a shopping center, a mile-long beach, snorkeling, boats, and all activities within easy walking distance. Its on the west side of Maui, which is more lush and green than the south side . And its close to Lahaina, for lots more restaurants, entertainment, shopping, boat excursions, and history. Other places to stay on the West side of Maui include Kapalua, Napili, Kahana, Honokowai, and Lahaina.

Does one area offer better snorkeling than the other? This one is truly a draw.
Near Kaanapali, youll find great snorkeling at Honolua Bay, Kapalua Bay, and Kaanapali beach.
Down south near Wailea, youll find great snorkeling at Turtle Town and Ahihi-Kinau reserve. The famous snorkeling crater Molokini is located just off the coast of Wailea, but if you want to snorkel there, youll need to take a snorkel boat. And most of those boats leave from Lahaina, just a few miles south of Kaanapali.
Bottom line: youll find great snorkeling in both spots.
New Luxurious Suites With Full Kitchens $$$$$
If hotels were cars then the Marriott would be a Toyota, nice and dependable. The Ritz Carlton would be a Bentley, extravagant and braggy. The Honua Kai Resort and Spa would be a Lexus, top notch luxury but understated and restrained. If you like the good things in life but still want your resort to reflect the values of island life then this is your place.
Surrounded by lush landscaping and a plethora of pools, waterfalls and water features, you won’t be disappointed by the surroundings and location. Inside the rooms are modern and contemporary and feature studios and one to three bedroom suites, all with full sized kitchens with full size stainless steel appliances. OK, you probably figured out that this is more of a condo complex than a hotel but the rooms you rent are maintained by the hotel so you don’t need to worry about getting a throwback 80’s room like you do with some condo rentals. Dukes Beach House Maui, owned by the same people who own Hula Grill, Kimo’s and Leilani’s, is right on the property so there’s no need to leave the resort to get some great aloha dining. Top notch, luxurious, and off the beaten path.

Kaanapali Vs Wailea: Honeymoon
While both locations are perfect for a honeymoon, resorts in Wailea feel like they are specifically designed to cater to the honeymooner. Especially when youre looking at some of the luxurious spots like the Grand Wailea, the Four Seasons, and the adults-only hotel Wailea. The hotels in Wailea are some of the most expensive on the island, and they provide a luxurious stay that is perfect for a romantic honeymoon.
Thats not to say that the hotels in Kaanapali arent nice they are. You will find fewer luxury resorts and more mid-range hotel options.
