Where To Stay In Interlaken
B& B Interlaken Youth Hostel is a simple hostel accommodation with spacious but plain rooms. The best thing about the hostel is its location. It is right beside Interlaken Ost station and there is a large supermarket co-op just across the street.
Mid RangeCarlton Europe Hotel is a quaint boutique hotel located near the Interlaken Ost Station. The wife and I stayed here for one night. Our Classic Room was quite comfy. BudgetHotel Bernerhof & Residence is an affordable hotel that is very near the train station. It offers basic clean rooms. However, there is no lift in this three-storey hotel.
Mid RangeArenas Resort Victoria-Lauberhorn is a beautiful hotel located right beside the train station. It offers comfy rooms with great views of the Swiss Alps. The supermarket co-op is just across the road. The breakfast selection is very good.

Lauterbrunnen is pretty spectacular on its own, but the star of the show is the Staubbach waterfall. At 297 meter, plunging from a vertical cliff wall, its just about the first thing you notice when you arrive in Lauterbrunnen. Staubbach is also one of the highest waterfalls in Europe and possibly one of the most beautiful if you ask me.
The impressive thing about this waterfall is that the water is free-falling off the cliffs and sends clouds of mists into the air. On a windy day, the flowing mist is almost lost in the wind before it reaches the rocks below.

As you enter Lauterbrunnen from Interlaken, a multi-storey car park is on your left . Also on your left is the train station, whilst the cable car station for Grutschalp is opposite the train station, on your right.
Staubbach Falls are at the end of the main street on the right .
The distance from Lauterbrunnen train station to Staubbach Falls is 1200 metres. It takes around 15 minutes to walk between the two.

I stayed here 2 years ago and wanted to come back for the good food and atmosphere. It lived up to my expectations. Ursula and Nolan does a really good job. The village is between schilthorn and wengen ski systems. You can get here by train or rental car as we did.

Located south of the city center, just a 12 minute walk away from it, this cute little village is perfect if youre looking for more affordable hostels and budget hotels in Interlaken. There are tons of activities that you can do right here in Matten bei Interlaken and if you still have some days left during your holiday in Switzerland, just go hiking in the amazing mountains!
The Seilpark Interlaken Adventure Park is located in this neighborhood and its perfect especially if youre traveling with the kids and you want to go on an adventure! They have tons of bridges and ziplines! And if theyre still not tired you can walk to the amusement park and have some fun there as well!
Other than that, the atmosphere is pretty chilled in Matten bei Interlaken and the best way to enjoy that is to explore the whole village on foot and admire all the chalet houses, old architecture and definitely try their restaurants!
The Interlaken West Train Station is super close to this area so if you want to visit other parts of the city just be spontaneous and get on a train! Thats what I always try to do when I travel. You can even visit another amazing town in Switzerland, like Lucerne!

Lauterbrunnen Was The Perfect Base For Our First Switzerland
Lauterbrunnen was the perfect base for our first Switzerland trip. Clean, beautiful and quiet with church bells at every hour and cowbells in the distant. We had a rental car and loved that Lauterbrunnen was in close proximity to places we wanted to visit, Iseltwald for a view of Lake Brienz, Grindelwald, Sigriswill also the perfect base to take the trains up to the various villages and ski destinations in the area.

The Bell Restaurant in Lauterbrunnen has the best atmosphere and view in the village. Take a seat on the terrace and enjoy the stunning Staubbach falls and the surrounding views over the Swiss Alps.
